And it was agony, I could literally feel the pain travelling up my leg and I felt sick and dizzy and its still throbbing

Its easy to deal with.. clean with sea wster then immerse in water as hot as you can stand for about half an hour but OUCH. Luckily I had people with me who took care of DCs and it was me not them

If you are off to the beach get beach shoes you can also swim in... It could save lots of pain. Im buying me and children some first thing tomorrow.

I live in Cornwall and there have been a lot of reports every day about people being hurt by weever fish! The current advice is to wear shoes (protection against weever fish) and wet suits (protection against jelly fish) when swimming in the sea.

This happened to me a few years ago, but on the front of my foot as I was face down in the shallows trying to bodyboard. The lifeguard on the beach thought it was a jellyfish so advised my bf to piss on me to relieve the sting, which he proceeded to do. So not only was I in agony but I got pissed on for no good reason.

My ds (10) got stung last year at Camber Sands. It was awful, he screamed and sobbed for ages Sad.

The lifeguards knew what to do but waiting for the water to heat up on their tiny camping stove was the longest 5 minutes of my life!

Beach shoes all the way now!

There was a run of them here a few years ago when I was a kid and my dad who usually had an incredibly high pain threshold was nearly in tears! We have worn jelly shoes ever since. We look pretty ridiculous all storming down the beach en masse in our lovely jelly shoes but it’s worth it to not get stung! I don’t bother once the tide has come up past about midway though (very dramatic tides here). My friend got stung on her bum cheek when she was sitting in the sand at low tide! Luckily was not a proper sting so she didn’t have to sit in a bucket of hot water.
