My mums had a knee op recently and I'm wondering what I can get her to help aid the recovery time and boredom that comes with having to rest and exercise.

Flowers are all well and good but get a bit much when you receive so many

I'm just a bit crap with gift. Ideas.

What's your budget?

Does she have a kindle?

flamingofridays · 05/08/2018 20:34

A flask!!!

newplacenofriends · 05/08/2018 20:35

books/kindle books

UrsulaPandress · 05/08/2018 20:35

iPad.

flamingofridays · 05/08/2018 20:35

(I suppose that's better if you can't move at all but I suppose it saves you making several cups of tea)

Reaa · 05/08/2018 20:37

Snacks, DVD box sets.

TressiliansStone · 05/08/2018 20:37

Box sets?

A big crossbody bag so she can carry stuff around while on a frame or crutches?

I research family history online to keep me mentally busy while I'm not very mobile.

buckeejit · 05/08/2018 20:38

Netflix subscription

Ticcinalong · 05/08/2018 20:39

Netflix or amazon prime? Lots of choice to keep her busy.
Tasty food/ easy cook meals/ fruit basket.

BatSegundo · 05/08/2018 20:44

Depends on the sort of person your mum is, obviously, but something to do that has some sort of 'product' at the end can help with the feeling of uselessness that can come with reduced mobility. So maybe something creative. Sketchbook and pencils. Crochet hook and wool. Calligraphy pen and book.

ShinyMe · 05/08/2018 20:45

I crochet, so I'd LOVE a big bag of wool/yarn.

BatSegundo · 05/08/2018 20:52

And on the practical front, I have something similar to this www.thebasketcompany.com/shopping-baskets-c8/small-wicker-shopping-basket-childs-size-hollander-p24/s40?gclid=CjwKCAjwwJrbBRAoEiwAGA1B_etpn8FLE8Qo4ggtnoKIEHNYmx-dCQR2I_FnarqZjZLC7qMiqoqmsBoCdG4QAvD_BwE that I find helpful for carrying about a cup of tea + glasses + biscuit when the other hand is occupied with a stick or banister.

Toughtips · 05/08/2018 20:53

Thank you so much!

So many fab ideas!

One of those sticks with a claw on the end and a squeezy handle. When I was bed ridden EVERYTHING was just to far away.
