Lip fillers in lunch break

Do you think it's unprofessional to get lip fillers done on your lunch break if you work in a public facing role, like a job centre for example? For those of you that don't know, lips are usually very swollen and/or bruised and quite often your lips are numb for a good while after.

Would be making the same judgement if someone went to the dentist in their lunch break and had a numbing injection for a filling ?

thelittlestwo · 05/08/2018 19:19

Yes I would say it's unprofessional

guest2013 · 05/08/2018 19:20

True but dental work is usually a necessity.

It could be done but lips would be quite swollen after ..... if working with the swelling doesn't bother you then I don't see a problem with it.

Sweetcarrielynne · 05/08/2018 19:23

I think as long as the person isn't prevented from doing their job it's fine. If the swelling and numbness affected their speech or if they were too uncomfortable and distracted to concentrate it wouldn't be appropriate. But if it's just the way it looks that's bothering you then I would say it's your issue not theirs.

(I don't mean 'you' specifically btw - just the person who had a problem with it)

I did it.
Maybe not the same
I'm hairdresser we had a nurse come in monthly and run a botox/ filler clinic and I had mine done on my dinner break then. I opted not to have the numbing cream as it would have taken too long and swelling didn't come for a few hours after.
None of my clients really noticed though

PinkHeart5914 · 05/08/2018 19:25

It’s not the same as dental work though is it, most dental work isn’t for vanity normally it’s becuase you teeth are aching.

No I don’t think coming back from lunch with bruised lips due to having fillers is professional. Why can’t it be done on a day off or day booked as holiday?

poppingalf · 05/08/2018 19:25

Not unprofessional to do it in lunch break

But you will be verrrrrry swollen by the end of the day - Botox works for lunchtime type thing but fillers not so much Grin

NewYearNewMe18 · 05/08/2018 19:25

Is it impacting on the persons ability to do their job?

Neverender · 05/08/2018 19:27

No.

Leesa65 · 05/08/2018 19:36

Id love to have my lips done .

But if it swells etc , then I , personally, don't think I'd have them done in a lunch hour.

paintitgrey · 05/08/2018 20:22

After I had mine done they were extremely swollen and I bruised very badly. I had black a and purple upper lip for 2 weeks. Granted I was an extreme case, but worth baring in mind that.

gamerwidow · 05/08/2018 20:26

It’s unprofessional if it renders the person unable to speak properly or do their job otherwise it’s fine I think.

SlideAway82 · 05/08/2018 20:31

I had Botox done in my lunch break but I guess you wouldn't be able to tell unless you looked really closely at the tiny puncture marks!
