as we don't own the road, blah blah. Doesn't bother me.

However!!! These people are serious CF or AIBU? A car pulls up, out piles mum, dad and three teens. Dad on the phone, loudly, could hear him calling a cab - out come a load of suitcases. Little mini bus turns up and off they go!!

I'm not even that near an airport! 25 minutes or so by car?!? If you were planning to do that and save on cab fares/car parking, wouldn't you go a bit nearer?

He's also parked very near to the edge of the drive - it's not over it but it's not in front of the house as it should be parked - particularly if it's being left there for a bloody fortnight!

Cheeky fuckers! I’d wait a few days, phone 101 and report it abandoned.

ApolloandDaphne · 05/08/2018 18:23

There's nowt as queer as folk! They have probably done this routine for years and is just their habit.

ApolloandDaphne · 05/08/2018 18:24

I don't think the police are going to care much or do anything about a car parked legally on a road.

ToadOfSadness · 05/08/2018 18:26

Can you push it out of the way? (And then report it as abandoned).

Tiredtomybones · 05/08/2018 18:30

Yanbu. CF for definite.

Pengggwn · 05/08/2018 18:30

Annoying, but perfectly legal.

PUGaLUGS · 05/08/2018 18:32

I would gather some mates together and bounce it out if the way.

for a car parked legally? You're nice.
Can't see the problem myself? maybe they're also picking up another person who lives near you to share taxi fare?

ApolloandDaphne · 05/08/2018 18:35

I also wouldn't touch the car as you could be in big trouble. If you can get in and out of your drive then it may be a bit annoying but they haven't actually done anything wrong.

FittonTower · 05/08/2018 18:35

If they're not parked over your drive i don't really see the problem. Is it a private road or resident's parking or something?

LakieLady · 05/08/2018 18:36

Is that CF behaviour?

If so, is it unreasonable that when friends from other parts of the country fly from the airport half an hour from where I live, they often leave their cars in my road and I run them to the airport and pick them up on return? They often stay the night before and/or afterwards, especially if it's long haul.

For some friends, I used to look after their dogs, as well, it's a very comprehensive service we offer at Lakie Villas. Grin It never occurred to me that neighbours might think it Cheekyfuckery.

whingeyarse · 05/08/2018 18:37

They've probably left it near a family member's house or something? I can imagine this is the kind of thing I'd do, either so my dad could borrow the car or so he could keep an eye on it or whatever.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 05/08/2018 18:37

Wrap it in clingfilm Wink

Jimdandy · 05/08/2018 18:38

Hmmm I pay road tax etc so if there’s no restrictions and I want too I’d do it.

ParkheadParadise · 05/08/2018 18:40

Some people are bloody weird.

TidyDancer · 05/08/2018 18:41

Don't take the shitty 'advice' you've been offered re reporting it as abandoned. Clearly it isn't and you will be wasting the council's time. Yes this is annoying if you live somewhere where parking is difficult but they are well within their right to do it.

Angrybird345 · 05/08/2018 19:18

Let down their tyres! This is taking the pis. so selfish.

So parking legally is terrible behaviour so you think committing the crime of criminal damage is an appropriate response? Hmm

IceCreamFace · 05/08/2018 19:36

Don't report it as abandoned you'd have to lie about how long it's been there which puts you on dodgy legal ground or they wouldn't take any notice. YANBU bloody cheek!

LyndorCake · 05/08/2018 20:10

Pop a note on their windscreen and just ask that next time they don't park as close to your drive way, while not blocking it, it makes it difficult for you to get on and off the drive and you'd hate to scratch their car. Personally I'd also throw in a "I find this very strange to park outside a strangers house who doesn't live anywhere near the airport".
As PP say, they haven't done anything illegal so can't really say anything else!

nippiesweetie · 05/08/2018 20:30

For the first few years I lived here a car would appear at the front of my house every summer and park for a couple of weeks. I live in a small remote village that is nowhere near any transport hub.

I concluded that it must be friends of the previous owners but I never saw them come or go.
