to be excited for autumn?

I love summer, and I can't believe I'm almost wishing it away....but I'm finding myself getting excited about autumn!

I love mild autumn weather, autumn fashions, halloween, bonfire night....and then the run up to Christmas.

Anyone else?

Oh autumn bring. It. On! I am soooo done with summer. Been out shopping today and passed a Whittards outlet and got a tub of white hot chocolate and a new mug. Roll on post autumn afternoon dog walks where I can dig into that!

Then there's bonfire night and treacle toffee and bonfire lollies. YUMMMM

Crunchymum · 05/08/2018 19:31

I love all the seasons and I'm hating the heat.

It's just almost incomprehensible to think it will actually fall below 25c at some point. I feel like I live in a tropical country Grin

Aprilsinparis · 05/08/2018 19:36

I love Autumn OP, for all the reasons you do. I love the shorter days, and the smells of Autumn. I love, love, love it.

Tara336 · 05/08/2018 19:41

I love all seasons as there’s something to look forward to in each one, but Autumn isn’t definitely my favourite. i LOve watching the leaves fall as I walk through the woods and the crunch they make as you as you walk

Tara336 · 05/08/2018 19:42

IS stupid ipad

ineedtostopbeingsolazy · 05/08/2018 20:12

I love autumn and the run up to Christmas. Then comes January and it's miserable.

paintinmyhairAgain · 05/08/2018 20:29

bring it on !!! i hate the heat, sun tan lotion and certain 'aspects' of summer - such a grumpy cow ! Smile

Frouby · 05/08/2018 20:37

I love all the seasons as long as those seasons are true.

I like a mild, early autumn day with the hint of sharpness after dark. I like a frosty winters day or even a bleak cold one. I love a sharp frost early spring but 12 hours of daylight and a softening to the cold.

But what I don't like is mixed up seasons. So warm and muggy in october. Or cold, wet and windy in july. And as much as rain is necessary I like it to be appropriate to the season. A thundery downpour mid summer after thunderstorms and days of heat is fine. A week of blustry rain in august is pants.

NoDressSense · 05/08/2018 20:41

I am so looking forward to autumn.

But how has nobody mentioned the spiders yet ??!

73kittycat73 · 05/08/2018 20:47

I'm looking forward to the autumn too, although winter is my favourite season. Can't wait for cosy jumpers and warm boots, snuggling up on the sofa under a blanket watching Christmas films.

Nichelette · 05/08/2018 20:49

I've found myself daydreaming about it lately. I just can't deal with the heat anymore.

flapjackfairy · 05/08/2018 20:58

Nodresssense I mentioned spider season ages back. The only downside to me

MissMildred · 05/08/2018 20:58

Yes, yes yes. I've had enough of feeling clammy and swollen in this heat. I love the sunshine, but our houses aren't built to cope and sleeping is a nightmare.

MsJinglyJones · 06/08/2018 12:19

I'd forgottten about the spiders :(
But in summer the flies and wasps really annoy me, so it's a trade-in. 🕷

For me the main downside of autumn is halloween and trick or treating because I'm shy and hate going round knocking on doors. And there's always a drama about who goes with who Hmm If the spiders could take DD trick or treating I'd be sorted.

Timeisslippingaway · 06/08/2018 12:21

I can't wait for Autumn and winter. I've just ordered a jacket and boots. They will probably be returned 😂 but that's how much I'm looking forward to it.

TurquoiseButterfly19 · 06/08/2018 13:24

Im with you OP! Cant wait to smell coal burning in the air. Crip evening walks with a torch, stews, soups,....

hammeringinmyhead · 06/08/2018 13:32

September 1st to January 1st is the absolute best time of the year. I hate summer clothes and you can't go anywhere in my area in July or August without roads, car parks, cafés and shops full of tourists making life difficult. Also, being pregnant in a heatwave is a special kind of torture.

Mousefunky · 06/08/2018 13:42

YANBU, I think autumn is my favourite season. I love Halloween, not the biggest fan of bonfire night though... massive Christmas fan and love the build up to it. I love getting hot drinks to warm myself up and feeling all snug in bed on a night.

Not the biggest fan of summer at all.

Justmuddlingalong · 07/08/2018 22:01

Ooh. Have just noticed how dark it is tonight at 10 o'clock. The nights are drawing in. 😄 I bought a new winter duvet in the sale yesterday. I'm definitely looking forward to autumn.

ForalltheSaints · 07/08/2018 22:10

I'm looking forward to a September holiday and visiting Ypres in November.

PumpkinPie2016 · 07/08/2018 22:25

I love Autumn - changing colours, Halloween, bonfire, mine and DS birthdays. I like the start of the new school year too complete with new stationary Grin

I'm not generally a sun person although I have actually enjoyed it this year. Just back from 2 glorious weeks in Cornwall - lovely being able to sit on the beach/outside pubs /stroll around in the nice weather.

I hate spider season though and fear it has arrived early in my house! Found a bloody huge one last night Sad I am irrationally totally petrified of them to the point that I can't even Hoover them up so it's a very trying time for me!

tor8181 · 07/08/2018 23:28

i practically live in the forest(village is between 2 mountains and forests and rivers to the left, im in the welsh valleys) so love autumn as its always like the photos here(same with winter)

i hate summer anyway but this summer have doubled my hate

i dont sweat so overheat very easily, and burn even with factor 60 on(i dont go abroad) with the heat wave its been high 20s low 30s constantly(bar a week of rain)since june day and night and no fresh cool air(which is normal here no matter what season)and the headaches its caused me as the heat goes straight to my head and i need to lie down and with 2 kids that need 24 hour care its not possible(they dont sleep either)

ive been waiting for autumn since june, which here starts early sept(leaves falling, temp drop)

people always think im mad as everyone loves the sun apparently
