Which decade of your life has been the best so far?

0-10 I was very happy. Had a great childhood.

10-20 was very mixed - 50% of it was great and 50% was awful (badly bullied at one school I went to).

20-30 Awful! My mental health was rock bottom and I made a lot of mistakes during my twenties.

30-40 This is the decade I’m currently in and it’s been the best so far. I’m much happier in my own skin and couldn’t care less what anyone thinks of me now. Sorted out all the financial issues I had in my twenties too and in a happy relationship for once.

50s
My current decade. I feel good, I've finally got to know [and accept] myself. Finally in love and in an equal loving partnership. Half a century in I see a future...

0-10 - I don't have a lot of memories from this time, but I think it was good
10-20 - not so good in the first half as was badly bullied, improved in the 2nd half when I met dh and left school
20-30 - fantastic, had the dc, had great friends, all good
30-40 - this is where I am now. The DC are getting older, I have managed to get a whole new career which I love, though has been very hard work, hopefully this period will continue to be positive.

Over all for me I think my 20's has been best. My 30's are flying by too quickly, I felt like my 20's lasted a lot longer Grin

0-10 not great but not awful childhood. Very poor, my mum always worried about money. Dad left.

10 - 16 Mum married, I didn’t like step Dad but he bought financial stability. Couldn’t wait to leave home, felt suffocated.

16 - 30 left home, had a series of crazy boyfriends, hung around with people taking a lot of drugs. It was scary, wild, traumatic but also fun, character forming. I didn’t take drugs but got myself to university and around the world instead.

30 - 40 met my husband, got a good job, took a masters, got a better job, had a child. Divorced. Single parent.

40 - 49 (now) moved to a totally new place. Met second husband. Had another child. Big step family, totally stressful!

All in all each decade had big stresses but also big fantastic life events too.

Looking back, I really can't choose a decade, because something really awful has happened each of my decades. My happy times were, 18 to 21, 23 to 31, since then it's been alright, and at times bloody awful.

Great question!

I wish I had an answer, but each of my decades so far has been split between highs and lows - would be easier to split into half decades.

0-5 great
5-10 my mum goes off kids when they stop being very little and cute Confused

10-15 meh, as they are for most adolescents
15-20 very social, lots of fun

20-25 uni, with bad depression
25-30 mostly living abroad having a good time

30-35 difficult time - single, fat, thought I'd never have kids

35-40 lost weight, fell in love, marriage, babies StarStar

40-45 illness for me, bereaved, marriage problems
45-50 moved to forever home by the sea, career upturn, creative inspiration, marriage and health improved.

Hoping for good things from my 50s, but prepared for a game of two halves!

Interesting that most of us have said that life gets better the older we get

0-10 Quite unhappy childhood, angry cheating father, alcholic mother, very shy child with MH problems
10-20 Awful. Same as the above but combined with loneliness and depression.
20s - So far much better. Becoming my own person, more confident, lots of health problems unfortunately but have met a lovely partner and have some good friends. Parents are better people too.
