to think there's no point buying summer clothes now?

I'll hold my hands up - I'm a pessimist. But I don't spend much money on clothes, and when I do it's always something I need to replace or cheap in the sale.

My sandals are breaking, but I'm reluctant to buy more as we're in August now - we only have another month or so of nice weather, and then it will be time for autumn fashions.

Is there any point replacing things like this, when I could just use the money to stock up on autumn necessities?

To be fair, a lot of places start reducing prices now, Clarkes are.

My dead sandals date back at least pre 2012 so I would hardly claim fashion victim out of them. Sole finally fell apart last month.

I was in primark earlier looking for last minute bits for our holiday next week and they’ve already got their autumn ranges in store.

Bluelady · 04/08/2018 21:52

They're not going to sell much are they?

Sitranced · 04/08/2018 21:59

Do you actually have anything that you need to 'stock up' on for autumn? and would it not make more sense to buy the thing you need now and buy what you need then? It's August but only the beginning and the sun may last till late sept.

For an adult I would buy them bevause you can wear them next year too
For a child I wouldn't bother now because they would grow out of it by next summer.

ThatchersCold · 04/08/2018 22:10

I disagree that everywhere has gone to autumn stock. I went shopping the other day as I wanted to pick up a couple of dresses for my holiday, but there was hardly anything in the sale section, and most of the summer stuff was full price. The shops seem to have cottoned on to the fact that people are still going to want summer clothes in a heatwave. There were a few autumn bits, but not much.

Ohyesiam · 04/08/2018 22:12

There will be summer again next year op.

Bluntness100 · 04/08/2018 22:14

What autum necessities do you need?

Bottom line, you can pick up a pair of sandals cheap and as an adult they are not just for this year, but for years to come. If you can't afford it, then don't buy them.

RoseMartha · 04/08/2018 22:31

I would buy some in the sale and wear them next year too. Then you have a bargain. I usually make a pair last two or three summers anyway.

mineisarossini · 04/08/2018 22:37

The heat has literally ruined my sandals. I have worn them to death.
Yes I am just about to replace them in the sake. I doubt we will see another summer like this so your new sandals are likely to last for years!

mineisarossini · 04/08/2018 22:38

Sale

lljkk · 04/08/2018 22:39

I bought DS sandals last week! As growing lad, he really won't wear them next summer. He'll wear them daily until October, otherwise.

bridgetreilly · 04/08/2018 22:45

This is the best time to buy summer clothes and especially something like sandals. Everything's on sale! And you know what, it'll be summer next year again too!

gamerwidow · 04/08/2018 22:47

Agree with other buy them now and even if you only get 2 months wear out of them they are ready for next year.

Pimmsypimms · 04/08/2018 22:55

Ooh, yes to Everything5pounds and primark, you’ll probably find primark have loads of their summer stuff in the sale too!
