Aibu to not want anyone else to use my washing up gloves?

I hate sharing washing up gloves. I hate the idea of the creases of someone else’s sweaty hands rubbing on the Inside of my gloves then having to wear them.

As much as I hate it, I have to wear them as I have sensitive skin and eczema.

I keep a pair in the car and if there is ever a reason to have to wash up e.g. after a meal at a relatives house, I get my gloves from my bag/car.

Aibu.

Yes

YANBU. I don't want anyone else's clammy hand germs in my gloves.

My mum is an easy-going woman, but if you touch her rubber gloves she will gut you like a fish - she claims other people always get water in them and they are never the same.

NoTeaNoShadeNoPinkLemonade · 04/08/2018 19:02

YANBU!
To me it would be like sharing someone else's sweaty socks...boak

Caaarrrl · 04/08/2018 19:02

I know exactly what you mean! My hands sweat in rubber gloves so the thought of someone else's sweaty hands being in there distresses me.

FrazzledRockRed · 04/08/2018 19:17

I often leave out decoy pairs, but people still ‘just’ use mine.

Who exactly is using your gloves? Some randomer with leprosy, or your husband? If it's the latter then YABVU

WorraLiberty · 04/08/2018 19:44

Keeping your washing up gloves in your car is way OTT

I'd keep an eye on that if I were you.

FrazzledRockRed · 04/08/2018 19:48

Dh uses them, dd uses them, I think the cleaner uses them even though I provided separate ones and said ‘please use the pink ones’. My cousin had tea here and offered to wash up and before I knew it had my gloves on.

They are in the car because there are occasions where it would be rude not to wash up after yourself. I can’t wash up without gloves as the detergent inflamed my eczema. I don’t want to use someone else’s, so I carry my own.

YANBU.

PineapplePen07 · 04/08/2018 20:14

Yanbu AT ALL

My rubber gloves are strictly mine and I will not share skin sweat with anyone 😂

Lindalee3 · 04/08/2018 20:15

YANBU. I am the same.

Ditto with anyone drinking out of my water bottle.

Just fuck off with your slobbery chops and backwash.

And buy your own! Hmm

MrsSteptoe · 04/08/2018 20:18

My water. My toothbrush. My towel. My spoon (when sharing puddings). And yes, my rubber gloves.

IllHaveALargeGlassOfRed · 04/08/2018 20:20

I just read your thread title and shuddered! No. There are no circumstances where it's ok for someone to wear your gloves or for you to wear someone else's gloves. Which is ten times worse. 🤢

user1493841671 · 04/08/2018 20:25

Yanbu
In this house, rubber glove 'borrowers' also get water in the actual gloves Angry and leave them all soggy
I hide my special pair on top of the fridge, only I can reach them

ShinyMe · 04/08/2018 20:30

I once had a really weird itchy thing going on on one of my hands. Itchy palms, itchy red bits between my fingers, flaking skin, then gradually little sores all over my hand. I tried everything to get rid of it but nothing helped and it just got worse and worse for weeks. Then I suddenly realised that there was a tiny hole in my rubber glove and it had got damp and gone mouldy inside - I turned it inside out and it was REVOLTING, all furry and black and disgusting. Obviously gave my hand some kind of mould, YUCK.

Not that it came from sharing, but anyway. YANBU, sharing is icky.

Hushnownobodycares · 04/08/2018 21:00

YANBU

I used them for work (was a MDMS in a school) and was fummin' when I found a colleague sporting them. Don't want anyone else's sweaty paws ranking them up, thanks Angry

ForalltheSaints · 04/08/2018 21:04

As you have sensitive skin and eczema, perfectly reasonable.

DramaAlpaca · 04/08/2018 21:08

Urrghh! I would hate anyone using my washing up gloves.

mistlethrush · 04/08/2018 21:08

Ethylred · 04/08/2018 21:26
