I don't have the money currently for canesten, can't get an emergency dr appointment (not least as it isn't an emergency) and not got any yoghurt in the fridge

But I'm so uncomfortable tonight... is there anything I can do to help???

I've found natural yoghurt soothing!

embarrassingPost · 04/08/2018 00:27

No yoghurt currently

Considering soaking a tampon in coconut oil after googling

You can get unbranded fairly quickly online. I usually keep one in just in case
http://www.pharmacyfirst.co.uk/clotrimazole-500mg-vaginal-tablet-internal-pessary-clo31.html

Much cheaper!

rogueantimatter · 04/08/2018 00:53

If you have tea tree oil, a few drops in a warm shallow bath might help.

Ah poor old you. Thrush is horrid.

lastqueenofscotland · 04/08/2018 01:04

The Asda unbranded one is just as good and so cheap

HerondaleDucks · 04/08/2018 08:11

Natural yoghurt is a wonder on a budget! Go and get some.

notavailablee · 04/08/2018 08:15

You can get it from the chemist for free if you are signed up with pharmacy first.

Make sure you sign up for next time.

notavailablee · 04/08/2018 08:16

And if you really are broke and in agony today go to the walk in centre or call your Gp out of hours and see if they can do a prescription over the phone for you to collect from the chemist.

CholloDeNombre · 04/08/2018 08:17

Chop up a garlic clove into small enough pieces to swallow like a pill.

When you go to bed tonight, insert a garlic clove into your vagina and wear a pad, just in case. Prick the clove a bit all over so the juices can seep out. Weirdly, you will be able to taste garlic in your mouth after a few minutes, which is why it's advisable to go to bed straight after insertion.

Apple cider vinegar on tampon.

twocats335 · 04/08/2018 08:25

I had this recently op. It's awful. I tried natural yogurt and it sorted it very quickly.

Newmanwannabe · 04/08/2018 08:30

I agree with the diluted vinegar soaked in a tampon

Ledkr · 04/08/2018 08:32

Op I am happy to put some money into an account to buy you some treatment if you dm me.

Newmanwannabe · 04/08/2018 08:32

And painrelief. Paracetamol and anti-inflammatorys. I always forget about them as the problem is the itching but they work really well

embarrassingPost · 04/08/2018 08:33

Coconut oil on a tampon made it bearable last night

There's no Asda near me I don't think which is gutting

Think I have some ACV so might try that too

How do I sign up with pharmacy first?

Thank you Smile

You can get clotrimazole pessaries unbranded on ebay really cheap. You could possibly still get them from the doctor if youre on free prescriptions and cant afford to buy otc.
Flucanazole tablets can also be bought otc generic rather than branded for much cheaper but i think pessary works better, or preferably both together

notavailablee · 04/08/2018 09:57

Ask at your Drs surgery for pharmacy first. The Gp might not know but get the reception to give you a form for the Gp yo sign.

embarrassingPost · 04/08/2018 14:18

I bought some yoghurt now... how have others used this? Just apply like cream??? I've got to go out soon and it's really annoying me

Thank you @Ledkr that's a very kind offer and I'm very tempted but will see if I can sort first

if its so bad that its causing you this much discomfort, then you need to treat it properly, you need to have some of these in your medicine cabinet. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clotrimazole-Pessary-2x6-Vaginal-Tablets-100mg-Antifungal-Agent-CANESTEN-EQUIV/122839856720?epid=1841556275&hash=item1c99d37650:g:mqoAAOSwevlaIoHh

Not every area has pharmacy first, mine doesn’t, we have a minor ailments scheme that you can access at any pharmacy, no need to register at the dr you just present at the pharmacy and ask for it.
