Has anybody seen the god awful American remake? It actually tarnished my like of the original, I had to stop watching it. The normally funny Molly Shannon was in it playing Kim.

I think Molly Shannon was Kath, and Selma Blair was Kim? It was absolutely awful alright. Though, it made me appreciate the original much more!

It's probably because it can't translate into another culture very much like if an American company or English company tried to make still game!

Kath and Kim is Australians sending themselves up for being ordinary Australians. It is cultural cringe* made art. How could anyone have thought a US version would work ?

I just wanted to say thanks to the OP, I'd heard of this show but never really been that fussed. Tonight I was looking for something to watch on Netflix and remembered this thread....I'm now on episode 4 and have been literally crying laughing. Best show EVAH!
