I started packing yesterday and I have a lot sorted already

First aid kit - done
Toiletry bag - done
travel laundry bits - done
Carry on bag - done
Handbag with passport in - done
Vape supplies - done
Swim bag - done

It's just the clothes to do now. I have a list made of what I need to bring.

I'm going tonight and I have an outfit set aside already for wearing tonight.

There is so much stress and pressure coming from so many different angles. I was supposed to be off the week but I was asked to go to work today. God knows what will be there for me when I go in for noon.

My mother is applying a lot of pressure too. She needs photocopies done and she wants me to do it because my brother is utterly useless and hardly talks at the best of times. It breaks his heart to talk.

She's going to a wedding in a few weeks too and the dress I ordered for her online came and she found fault with that and wants me to do online shopping.

I'm supposed to be leaving at 9. I might be lucky if I'm free by 6.

I need to shower as well.

Depending on if I am flying or not and how long I am going for but so long as the clothes are clean, then no time at all,.

You seem to be stressing about things that are quick to do, a shower is a 2 min job!

We don't have any children so it will be less time that people with children and it takes me about an hour and I'll pack the night before. My DP will only pack about half an hour before we are due to leave which drives me mad.

About two weeks.....

abitoflight · 03/08/2018 10:57

Holiday I'm on at the moment- about an hour as I know exactly what to expect
A city break esp in winter takes me hours of mulling over outfits
Good luck op

Breathe. It takes me half an hour to pack what I need - ten minutes for clothes - if it's somewhere hot. You've done all bar clothes and you know what outfits you're taking. Congratulate yourself on being super-organised, relax and enjoy.

araiwa · 03/08/2018 11:18

15 minutes at most

BitchQueen90 · 03/08/2018 11:21

10 minutes.

Toiletries in a bag. Clothes, swimming costumes, towels and any electrical items. Books etc in the carry on luggage. Done.

mrbob · 03/08/2018 11:23

10 minutes. Maybe 15 if it is hiking/skiing type

OracleofDelphi · 03/08/2018 11:23

Just come back from a 10 day family holiday for 4.... took under an hour. The longer I have to faff the more I faff!

APMom · 03/08/2018 11:24

I packed for me and ds in about 20 mins, dh, dd and other ds did theirs in the same time. I’m always calm packing whereas my mother starts lists about two weeks in advance and makes excuses that she can’t meet for tea etc for a week before going as ‘she’s got to pack!’

Ragwort · 03/08/2018 11:24

Half an hour, but must admit I don't pack first aid kit, laundry stuff or vaping kit. I have a toiletries bag ready most of the time (don't actually take that much, always amazes me on Mumsnet that toiletries is such a major thing Confused) - just make sure I've chucked some sun cream in.

Couple of swimsuits, couple of dresses, shorts/tops - wear one pair of shoes pack another, pyjamas - outfit to travel in - sorted.

bookgirl1982 · 03/08/2018 11:26

An hour, it is best to do in one go rather than start and then have to check again to ensure you haven't missed anything.

I'm usually busy at the best of times. Life is so hectic. For the most part, a shower for me is wash and go but there's other things I need to do. My legs haven't seen a razor in months so I need to do that job as well as other bits.

For short trips like a weekend away I usually just chuck stuff in a holdall the night before but for longer trips I do tend to be more methodical about packing.

I try to be 99% packed the day before I travel, so that on the day of travel I just need to throw any last minute bits into my carry on (phone charger, toothbrush etc) and go.

I generally get my case out about 3/4 days before I leave and pack as stuff becomes available. So I'd put in swimsuits, beach towels, coverups, accessories etc straight away as I don't need them in everyday usage and then as clothes come out of the laundry if I want to take them on my trip they're added to the case until everything is packed.

I use hand luggage for my travel toiletries (to freshen up at the airport after a flight), any expensive electronics/cables/chargers/camera etc that I don't want to risk in the hold and one full change of clothes (so if my hold luggage gets lost I have at least one fresh outfit) and my handbag (which has my purse, phone, passport, tickets, kindle and headphones)

I recently went abroad for 4 weeks as a teen summer camp coordinator and I had to leave 2hrs after a 12hr shift at my day job. Because I had such a tight turnaround I made sure everything was packed the night before so that in the morning all I had to do was drop the last things in my bag before I went to work, come home, shower, get dressed in my travel outfit, turn everything off at the mains, grab my stuff and leave.
