to be stressing over a pram?

Looking for a travel system to fit in the tiny boot of my car. I'm not able to sell it as it belongs to a family member, I just use it and cannot afford a car of my own.

Because the boot is so small, there are only a handful of prams that fit in there. I'm looking at the mothercare orb all-terrain... was thinking about the babyzen yoyo but it's much too flimsy... it's so frustrating being so limited.

How important is it to have the perfect pram? Would I be mad just getting one that doesn't fit in my car? I know many parents don't drive. DP has a car but it is a company car so I don't have the option to drive it, however it is a big car so we can go out when he is here.

I'm just so lost. Too many prams. Don't want to buy something rubbish. Help!

It's been a while since I had prams but my attempt to buy a "do everything" pram (travel system) was a disaster. It did do everything but none of it very well. I did a lot of walking (dog) but needed to get out and about in the car too. In the end, I got a Mountain Buggy (proper robust all terrain 3 wheeler) for all the walking and a Maclaren umbrella fold to go in the car. I used a sling for quick trips out in the car when the baby was very small.

Quinny buggies are always good, we had to fit new born buggy and wheelchair in boot and have a buggy that I could put up, down and push around whilst in wheelchair.
Go for separate car seat and pushchair, gives you far more flexibility.

We got a Joie Dlx Chrome for this purpose and it fits in the boot of a mini. With the carry cot this needed to go in the car and the frame fit in the boot, with the buggy it fits folded up if we take 2 wheels off.

I agree with PP that my travel system was a total waste of money. I only ended up using a baby carrier, the car seat and frame.

We have bought the orb for DD1 due in October. Glad to see people like it!

I got this pushchair:
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/G-MINI-GRAND-pram-and-stroller-in-one-2-in-1-design-/322237636388

Light, good suspension, and easily converts from lay flat to seat when the baby is older. We also got some adapters so that the car seat could also fit on the frame.

BUT, at the beginning we never used it! I had a Moby wrap, which was GREAT (highly recommend! The weight is distributed widely and evenly across your shoulders and back so I could wear it for a long time without any pain), then when DC was a bit older we got a Beco 8. More of a soft structured carrier, multiple carry positions possible, also a great carrier!

The pushchair gets used by Grandma, or when we want to get heavier shopping (no car right now).

I know everyone says that a pram is a must (I know I spent ages researching and choosing!), but you don't necessarily need it as much as you think you might! Are you pregnant just now? There will still be shops open after the baby comes :)

Quincy zapp with car seat adapters for when it's nb. I've had two I love them.
If I had another baby I'm either not bothering at all with a oran or getting a tiny fold. Big Iran's are gash

Pompom42 · 03/08/2018 20:24

Quinny Zapp Xtra 2
Completely lies flat
Folds really small
So lightweight and you have have forward facing or backwards facing.

Beccabean26 · 03/08/2018 20:56

I used the bugaboo bee with both of mine (they're now 8 and 6), but used a baby carrier with both until they were around 6 months old ☺️

It folds up pretty small. My mum had a tiny boot and I used to put the chassis in her boot and the seat unit in the back seat.

tealandteal · 03/08/2018 21:02

I'm going to go against the grain and say I love my travel system. I have a Mini so not sure how small the boot is in comparison to yours but I have a Joie litetrax and it fits in the boot without taking the wheels off and folds one handedly. It is an excellent buggy on its own. I put the carrycot bit on the front seat for the short time it was needed. The car seat clips in really easily and can be used with or without isofix. That said I wouldn't be without my sling (ergobaby) for dog walks and places with loss of stairs.

tealandteal · 03/08/2018 21:04

I would also recommend a which subscription so you can compare all these things like breast pumps, car seats etc.

Oyster 2. I had this when I had a puegeot 107 (minuscule boot). The chassis and seat until fit in the boot perfectly and the seat unit can be used from birth. I did have the carry cot and I used to just put this on the back seat next to baby’s car seat.
