To return to GP re coccyx injury?

Injured my coccyx a few days ago on a childrens slide Blush

Went to minor injuries and was precribed painkillers. I have now got some painful tightening of my buttocks and an not altogther unpleasant tingling sensation down below Blush

Do I need to see GP or is this par for the course with a coccyx injury? Anyone else had these symptoms? I'm aware there is not much can be done with a coccyx injury but worried I may have done something more serious (I suffer with anxiety so probably over thinking things)

Thanks in advance

If it’s just a few days I wouldn’t bother going back to your GP. It can take weeks, or months even, to heal and as you said there isn’t much they can really do.

I hurt mine a year ago and it still occasionally gives me gip if I sit on hard surfaces for too long Sad

Hi I bruised or maybe fractured (they don’t X-ray as treatment is the same) my coccyx about 8 weeks ago and I never had that feeling. Mine was pain, which intensified on standing up from sitting, and I couldn’t sit for very long.
I’d go back to your GP for the tingling.

I broke mine years ago and there was nothing they could do. They wouldn't xray it due to where it is so to find out they liked it to feel it move !
I spent 3 weeks lying on my stomach as I couldn't sit and had to hobble around.
It took at least another 6 weeks before I could sit properly.
Over 10 years later I still get problems if I sit on a hard surface or sit awkwardly.
3 days is nothing, it's probably the bruising coming out . I would give it a few weeks.

Unfortunately they are like toe injuries -
Nothing much can be done for them

If you get numbness, incontinence or sciatic pain, you should get medical advice because it is probably a disc compressing a nerve but other than that, painkillers is the best you can do
A physio might be able to help do some muscle release but you'd probably be better off finding and paying for it, as the wait for a doctor referral to an NHS physio is usually ages - months where I am

Another one with similar injuries. Sad
Mine was destroyed during an instrumental birth. You can move the pieces around. It was agony for 8 weeks, or so. They wouldn't do a thing, because it would potentially create a bigger problem.

It doesn't hurt now, unless I do sit ups/ crunches on a hard floor. It then swells up and bruises for a while.

It makes for an interesting party piece though! Grin

would definitely go to GP for medical advice with the symptoms you describe. My friend was at Loughborough university when she fell and injured her coccyx several years ago. Lots of elite sports people based at Loughborough and student health services reflected this. After initial period of pain relief, she had weeks of physiotherapy and has had no ongoing problems.
