Using mobile phone in the bath

needyourlovingtouch · 02/08/2018 21:39

I just went into the bathroom and my husband is on his mobile web browsing and texting in the bath. He doesn't have phone insurance and the phone was quite expensive. Aibu to leave him to it? I can't be bothered to get into an argument/nag him bt surely this is silly.

@AlonsoTigerHeart - I assume you mean TinyKittens? Are you watching Chlomona or Allie and Bentley?

nocoolnamesleft · 02/08/2018 22:18

I used to read my kindle in the bath.

Alas, poor kindle.

SimonBridges · 02/08/2018 22:21

I used to read my kindle in the bath

You need a Kobo H2O. Waterproof.

PurpleArmy · 02/08/2018 22:22

You can buy waterproof covers.

My phone is the most expensive item I own so I'd never take it to the bath, or running!

haribosmarties · 02/08/2018 22:24

just say 'oh be careful you dont drop that in the water!' and leave it at that... I mean hes a grown man so its up to him really.. id mention it once but just leave him to it if he chooses to carry on... I dont think its naggy to say to be careful in case he simply didnt think of the danger... but it would be nagging to continue to go on about it if he just ignores you and chooses to keep using it in the bath

KateMcD451 · 02/08/2018 22:27

Most phones are waterproof now, I've dropped mine in water several times.

AlonsoTigerHeart · 02/08/2018 22:28

Nope I mean tiny kitchen.
They cook tiny food on tiny cookers and serve it in tiny plate

Im hooked

rainbowsandsmiles · 02/08/2018 22:32

Why would you get into an argument about that?! He's an adult. If he drops his phone into the bath it's his own stupid fault lol. Therefore will have to pay for it being repaired/replaced.

KingIrving · 02/08/2018 22:33

In France there have been two confirmed death from charging phones while in bath, so do whatever you want in the bath except use a phone plugged in.

My BIL always shares too much information. He informed me he checks Facebook when he’s sitting on the toilet doing a poo, and now every time I see him post on FB (every morning about 7am) I know what he’s doing. Yuck.

I have so far resisted asking him, when I see him he’s on FB, if he's having a good shit. He’d probably give me details knowing him.

ch0c0milkrox · 02/08/2018 22:45

I never take my phone in the bath. I have a bath wash, shave etc and then get out!

KoolAidPickle · 02/08/2018 22:49

An iPhone 7, for example, is waterproof so if he dropped it in the bath it would be ok

Nope. Water resistant, not waterproof

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 02/08/2018 22:50

People saying how sad that you can’t even have a bath without phone, etc.

Sometimes a bath is my place for the whole evening, I can be in there for over two hours because I like to soak until my toes are crinkled. If I don’t have a book to read I will browse Facebook, here, news, etc. on my phone. It’s no different to sitting on the sofa with it 🤷🏻‍♀️

BusySittingDown · 03/08/2018 21:18

Nope. Water resistant, not waterproof.

Well, whatever! If one got dropped in the water it would be fine. I’ve seen videos where they’ve tested phones being in water for blah blah length of time and they were fine after. I imagine if one got dropped in the bath and was fished straight out again it would be ok. Which was the point I was making.

adviceonthepox · 03/08/2018 21:26

I do it all the time Blush

LEMtheoriginal · 03/08/2018 21:29

!!!

KeepServingTheDrinks · 03/08/2018 21:50

I was honestly going to post this BEFORE I saw LEM's thread, but....

..as long as he and pps aren't using it as a selfie moment then I'm sure it's fine.

But, y'know, then LEM's post,and I don't want to judge....

RibenaMonsoon · 03/08/2018 22:05

To all those that do this. Make sure the room is well ventilated. Or else the steam that collects on the walls, on the mirror etc may well be happening to your phone.

If it isn't water proof, that condensation from steam may have found it's way in to the phone through the charging port or the headphone socket.

I've worked in the industry for years and constantly see people bringing their faulty phones for repair and getting very miffed to find out that it's liquid damaged and not covered by warranty. A little digging will often indicate they have used their phone in the shower or bath.

Leave the window open guys. Unless someone's gonna get an eye full. Then it's down to your good judgement. Wink

Olivo · 03/08/2018 22:06

I use an iPad in the bath every night, it's the only chance I get to browse in peace. I have dropped it in once, but it recovered. I lost a kindle to the both though ,and a phone down the loo that never made it.

I suppose it's a chance I take!

Storm4star · 03/08/2018 22:06

I just lie back and relax in the bath! Feeling like I’m a bit weird now!

Guest6565 · 03/08/2018 22:07

Ribenas right - the condensation changes the little water damage indicator inside

LlamaPyjamas · 03/08/2018 22:12

The guy in the Apple shop told me iPhone 8 is water resistant for up to 30 mins submerged at 1m depth or less.

NeeChee · 03/08/2018 22:19

I use my phone to listen to music while in the bath, but I don't really browse in the bath.
What I don't understand is the need to take your phone to the toilet. Both DP and DSS do this, I dread to think of the germs on their phones. DSS never washes his hands at the best of times.

LEMtheoriginal · 03/08/2018 22:39

@keepservingthedrinks maybe i should shave my legs Blush

KeepServingTheDrinks · 04/08/2018 08:59

@LEMtheoriginal your legs are lovely as they are.
