Wibu to donate these toiletries to a foodbank?

I understand that the ethos of a foodbank is to provide food and essential life requisites to people who are in need of them. I do give these on a regular basis. My question is, I have built up an excessive stock of nice toiletries (facewashes, moisturisers, body lotion, make up etc) through bargain purchases, free gifts and presents - all unopened. I will never use them. Would a foodbank accept them and let their users take something if they fancied it?

Of course. They are still consumables that people need and would be grateful for.

Nothing to do with you OP but I am so sad in this day and age that we actually need food banks.

Ours round here absolutely would. At Christmas they had plenty of food but specifically asked for toiletries. If you're struggling to buy food I expect many toiletries would be a luxury you couldn't justify but would be lovely to have.

I would think so. Might be a nice treat for people struggling.

My Inner Wheel group collect toiletries and sanitary products for our local food bank because if women need to use them they need food for their family but if you have no money you would not spend money on buying anything other than food.

Yes for sure, our local one requests toiletries. Women's shelter may be an idea too

Ok. Thanks for replies. I will get a bag together and take them along to my local foodbank. Would be nice if someone could get some pleasure from them.

A church I used to visit had many congregation members who flew frequently on business, and the pastor specifically asked for the travel packs of toiletries given out by airlines and hotels, to go in care packages with food etc. A little bit of self care can be a great morale-booster!

Hi I volunteer at a food bank and they would be thrilled with these things.

impostersyndrome · 02/08/2018 17:18

Hi there BuggerLumpsAnnoyed what about dandruff shampoo? I bought the wrong sort a few weeks ago and it's too late to return it.

liquidrevolution · 02/08/2018 17:19

If you could add some sanpro it will be even better.

I collect unwanted toiletries for the local refuge and a friend makes up emergency packs for the hospital. We always buy towels and tampons out of our own money as not many are donated. Toiletries are always wanted.
