AIBU to think this?

Hi all,

My DH suffers from travel anxiety and his job involves some traveling. He is okay traveling around an hour away as it's quite close to home, but any further he has panic attacks and struggles with it.

His boss asked him to do a customer site visit which is around 4 hours away. DH refused to go due to his anxiety and said that he's had this for years (which he has) and his boss requested a doctors note. DH called the doctors to get this note and has since provided this to his boss, his boss is now requesting a HR meeting about this.

What are his rights about this? DH is worried that they might sack him for this? AIBU to worry about this? We've just signed a contract to buy a house and we exchange next week

DH has been discriminated in the past due to his anxiety, and this has also effected us going on holiday together so it's not just it's work that it's affecting.

Any help would be appreciated!

I think he needs to talk to ACAS.

They can get rid of him if his disability prevents him from doing the job and no reasonable adjustments can be made to resolve this. Can you think of any adjustments they could make which would allow him to travel - a work phone he could check in with every hour? Extra travel time or more time to plan the journey ?

I'll give ACAS a go!

No matter how prepared he is, his anxiety is so crippling, that it will prevent him going. I've paid for counselling for him, and it hasn't helped. This also effects our personal life because we never go away on holiday together, I normally go with friends or on my own.

In all other aspects of the job they've told him that he's perfect, does the most work out of everyone in his team. I think getting rid of him like this will be too harsh
