To think pharmacists could give IM injections

They give the flu jab so why not others like vit b12 injections. It would save appointments for people who really need them with the nurses at gp’s surgeries.

Do they have time to extend their service to cover routine injections? Would there be money to pay them - would it actually be cheaper than having nurses in the GP surgery?

anyone could give them tbh after proper training,HCA,s could be trained to give them, i practiced on an orange back in the day!

Pharmacists are on a lot more money than nurses and whenever I take a prescription to mine I have to wait ages for it so they are clearly stretched as it is.

It would save a lot of time and money if people self injected especially B12. Train the patients just like they do with children who are diabetic.
I have been trained to give my self adult growth hormone injections.

Yabu, pharmacists are already busy, what would you like them NOT to do so they can do the IM injections? And who would do what the pharmacists then didn't have time to do? Nurses?

People could do them themselves, if trained, like PPs said. Lots of people do do them themselves, eg. with hormones (I know I did while having infertility treatments). I guess with injections that aren't daily it's considered easier for people to go to see a nurse than to train a patient?

I do B12 injections at home after watching a YouTube tutorial! They are pretty easy to do.
