To think you should get a response after job interview

Went for an interview last week was told they’d let everyone know the outcome at the latest by Monday.
I’m assuming I’ve not got it but surely its not too much to put someone out of their misery and just say they’ve not got it.
I’ve sent a follow up email thanking them etc hoping that might’ve reminded them to give me an actually response but nothing back to that either.
I really wanted that job and thought I’d done well :(

Sorry for your disappointment, it was obviously not to be. I am sure the right thing will be just around the corner.Flowers

Sorry that it wasn't the outcome you wanted!

My interview is also my first since being a SAHM.

Do you get the impression they'd have never been in touch if you hadn't emailed?

No response for me as yet...

Sounds like they had an unexpected crisis come up which sounded genuine.
Very deflated now it was so ideal but have already applied for something else with that organisation completely different dept so hopefully that will come up.
Good luck to you unusual hope you get good news soon 🤞

From time to time my work thrusts me into the sphere of HR. It's horrible - at best I let people know that they haven't been successful; I almost think it's worse if I let people know that they have been successful. I think to myself - please don't take this job, I can't guarantee they won't treat you like shit.

The 'commodification' of people into 'applicants' is not something that rests well with me.

I think it's courteous to let an Interviewee know the 'result', however that's my own rule, I'm not sure if it's something that HR Profs do as a matter of course.

It may vary but as a maternity cover contractor, if a week goes by with nothing, they've filled it. They're only slow to get back to you or your agency if you're not successful. I often got the same job a few weeks later:as their first choice of candidate 'didn't work out'. Also, several (bloody annoying) times the dept concerned had 'jumped the gun' & after my interview, got told no budget for new bodies. You'd think in banking, management would sort budget first FFS.

That’s probably why they delayed the response - they didn’t want to let you know until the first candidate had definitly decided yes and negotiated their pay etc. If they had turned it down then they would have offered it to you. This happened in my work recently, first choice candidate took more than a week to decide and then said no. We then appointed our second choice.

Sorry for your disappointment, it’s gutting. But we’ll done on great feedback!
