This by no means meant in an insult to those that have but...when somebody posts on here and they have name changed for that particular post, why does the poster insist on saying they have? Genuinely curious.

OP posts:

Because otherwise they are accused of being trolls.

SneakyGremlins · 31/07/2018 00:58

Surely the trolls could just say "oh but I've namechanged"?

Screamingontheinside · 31/07/2018 01:01

Exactly, I just don’t get it.

OP posts:
HeddaGarbled · 31/07/2018 01:02

That’s why they mention Pom bears and naice ham (nope - no idea either).

ArmySal · 31/07/2018 01:03

Like Hedda says. It sometimes stops “interesting first post OP” with a Hmm face.

Like Sneaky says though, you only need a quick nosey on here to know to write “namechanged, pombears, lemon drizzle cake...”

I always just think “Yeah, anyway...”when I read those apparent qualifiers.

HeddaGarbled · 31/07/2018 01:06

That lemon drizzle cake thread was awesome!

SneakyGremlins · 31/07/2018 01:09

I need an update.

bumpertobumper · 31/07/2018 01:12

It is usually because it is a potentially identifying situation that they are describing and so they don't want to use their regular name as if someone recognises the op from rl they could then read personal stuff they have previously posted.

bumpertobumper · 31/07/2018 01:14

That is why they do it... Still don't understand why they say it HmmGrin

Because back in the olden days, when beakers were just beakers and all this were nowt but fields, saying name changed and mentioning a few old classics was enough that no one would question even the wildest tale, you know before we all realised how easy it is to have a quick nosey and lie about having been around a while.
