My dog is a lovely thing, but being a labrador he's got a habit of eating anything he can find. Hes an absolute scrounger for food, and though I've trained him not to beg with me, around others he will definitely do it if he can.
On our walks every morning I always encounter another dog walker who just wants to give him one biscuit or two. Most of the time they won't even ask, they'll just toss him one when they're feeding theirs. Others when they ask and I say quite cheerfully "Oh I'd rather you didn't", I'm met with a chorus of "Oh but its only one" and more pushiness. The moment he's had food from someone else he's a complete traitor, and when I try and call him away he seems to lose the ability to hear.
Am I wrong in thinking its against dog walking ettiquette to feed strange dogs. How do they know he doesn't have an allergy, or is sensitive to certain foods? And why do people seem so annoyed when they do say no.
I'm going to get him a bright yellow jacket which says "Do not feed me".
