Bored of the internet...

I used to waste spend so many hours faffing about on the internet. Between here, facebook, ebay, MSE and Wikipedia, I was rarely short of something to keep me entertained.
But as the years go by, I feel I'm getting more and more bored online. It feels as though everything is so cyclical and almost every thread on Mumsnet, I feel like I've read numerous times before. Nothing ever seems to happen over on Facebook either and after the excitement of catching up with old long-forgotten friendships, it all feels a little dull.

I've been an avid user of the internet since the start, am I just getting old (I'm fast approaching 40)? Or does anyone else feeling the same?

What does everyone else do in the evenings after the kids have gone to bed? The internet used to be my sanctuary.

I think the internet can be an amazing source of entertainment etc but it can also be superficial and tedious. It might just be that the sites you're using have become boring - you may want to try others as well like Reddit, TED, YouTube, The Oatmeal etc. Or some blogs (I particularly like A Cup of Jo and Smitten Kitchen).

Or ditch the internet! More time for books, podcasts, craft projects, tv, films, hobbies etc ☺️

I agree, ditch the internet! I used to love reading but don't read anywhere near as much as I used to.

What did you used to do in your spare time/for entertainment before the internet?

Read. As in books. The benefits cannot be overestimated.

Thanks for letting us know about this on..... the internet!

Ha I know what you're saying. But there's a massive amount of info online, you can find out about any subject you're interested in, watch shows you like, talk to people you want to talk to, the internet is a wonderful place. Has it's down side of course.

I also agree with PP about reading actual books instead. Or doing anything else for that matter.
