Aibu to do laundry in the sauna

So. I’m away for the weekend with friends. I grabbed a dress from the laundry pile and stuffed it in my weekend bag with pants bra, toothbrush.

This morning after my shower at 8 I go to put on the dress and it has the horrible smell of something that didn’t dry. That mildewed smell.

Shit.

I go to my car where I usually have some febreeze but there’s none.

So I go to the spa and get my swimming costume and take the dress into the showers . I wash it with a load of body wash.

I put it inside the towel and wrung it out with the sausage trick. Then I left it in the sauna for 10 minutes while I had a swim.

It’s polyester so no ironing needed. I’m wearing it now and it’s a bit damp but not noticeably so.

Aibu?

My god there are some pearl clutchers on here. So you find a clean dress disgusting but sitting on a sauna bench where some hideous unclean person may have sat butt naked just before you all ok? Wow!

Tbh, it would've been more mannerly to dry it with a hairdryer. It's polyester and would dry in minutes.

Why are you asking? If it's worked and you're in a non-smelly dress and no one was unduly inconvenienced then no problem. Personally I think you should question your hygeine standards if your clothes smell and you are forced to hang clothes in saunas. I guess you want people to think "how clever" I'm thinking you're a bit mucky.

A sauna is a hot and dry room.

A steam room is a hot and humid room.

Saunas by swimming pools are actually fairly humid. They will be as humid as the larger pool area. That sheen of moisture on your skin is condensation, not really sweat.

I'd think it was a bit off if I came across a dress in a sauna but not rude or disgusting.

Probably a good idea for getting creases out but I doubt it would dry.

Odd not off
