Boiler help

Byebyebye · 28/07/2018 09:29

So every now and again my boiler drops pressure. No issue you just need to turn the valves then restart it (boiler man showed me how to do it)

Expect my idiot boyfriend decided to do it instead of getting me and turned the wrong valve and now it’s making the most horrible rumbling / popping sound.

Someone’s coming out but it could be hours / tomorrow so is there anything I can do in the mean time?

TIA xx

Turn it off? At least that way if whatever has happened is damaging you are limiting the damage?

I have no idea how to turn it off (I’ve tried the mains) and the guy on the phone had no idea.

Your boiler pressure should be at 1.5 bar on the dial

If it is too much and the filling loop is off , the filling loop is normally a stainless steel flexible hose with two black taps on it , these should both be off which is normally perpendicular to the pipe

There will be a red knob somewhere near which is a blow off valve which will automatically let water by if there is too much pressure , this can be turned to reduce pressure manually and you should be able to turn it a quarter turn to let pressure off

Hope that helps

I think I would turn it off and wait for boiler man

The pressure is at zero.

I’ve found the boiler off switch which has turned off the boiler but the noice is still going. I can’t find a red knob 😞
