Anyone heard of Finder monkey

Today one of my uncles received a letter from Finder monkey regarding my dad. No more info and as my uncle couldn’t remember my dad’s address he could tell them anything. My dad won’t call so just wondered if anyone had any experience of the company. I have checked out their website but not to much detail.

Thanks x

They are a people finding company,
Mostly they are used to track down people who owe debts but they are also used by people just to find someone they wish to locate... it’s not cheap to use them though so you have to be quite eager to find the person.

Thank you. In theory my dad has no debts but my sister is known to run debt up in my name so I have queried that as a possibility.

I have used them before to track down an ex tenant who moved out overnight taking all of the white goods, with no notice owing two months rent, we tried to find her for months but it was like she just vanished, no social media, nothing on the electoral role, etc.
In the end we paid finder monkey to locate her and they found her within a few weeks and I was able to take her to court for the money she owed.

I believe they send out a drag net to find the person, if the usual online searches fail, contacting everyone with the same name or any connection to the person within the area, that’s possibly what they are trying to do to find your dad.

It might not be debt related though, it’s possible it could be a long lost friend or relitive trying to find him, or something to do with an inheritance, it could be anything.

Hi, bit late answering here but I’m new to Mumsnet. I know the company well and can tell you the following, FinderMonkey do not send letters to people they have traced in relation to debt, addresses are provided to clients where a proven financial contract is in place and the client requires the address for debt recovery. Letters are only sent out for long lost family/old friends searches. If your Uncle received a letter in relation to your Father then it is either a relative or old friend who is trying make contact and has used their Intermediary service - this service is whereby they make the initial contact rather than disclose an address to the client. In most cases relating to long lost family they will insist it is used. Contact details will only be provided to the client if the subject consents. They do not disclose much information in their letter as they want to protect the privacy of the addressee, they are aware mail can be opened by other members of the household. If you haven’t contacted them I urge you to. The intermediary is a really friendly lady who is impartial and there to ensure you are fully informed. If you do not want contact it is her job to express this to their client and to discourage them from any further effort to find you. They are open to responses ages after the event. I responded to a letter that had been sent to my Mum 2 years before, we found it when she died and we were sorting through paperwork. Turns out it was her brother looking for her, I’m sure if she had known she would have loved to have been in touch with him. Findermonkey put us in touch and we have met and now have photos of my Mum as a child and have learned lots about the extended family that we never knew. Our experience with them was great and they were really supportive even after we had made contact with our Uncle directly. Hope your Dad got in touch 😀

We have had a tenant who just abandoned our property owing 5 months rent. He would not leave after 2 months of owed rent on the Section 21 date saying we would have to take him to Court as he wanted a Council property. Anyway, he continued to stay put saying he would not leave until the Courts told him to (or in abusive language to the like of it). Anyway, we pursued the Court with a Section 8 and before it came through from the Court he just upped and left leaving the flat in a fifthy state, dirty fifthy disgusting state. Drawings on the wooden floor, cigarette burns in the bathroom, oven uhhhh anyway just awful.

Bills left opened from debtors, gas and electric being threatened to be cut off with a court warrant for entry all sorts.

Anyway he owes us £7,500 in unpaid rent, I wondered what you found of the services of FinderMonkey.

Kind Regards
