I keep trying and starting and failing over and over and it never seems to stick.
In all fairness, I only have less than a stone to lose which makes it even more frustrating that I can't do it.

Please share what worked for you/how much you lost to give me motivation

I got told i was pre-diabetic in December with bmi of 26 so not too much overweight. That did give me incentive to lose weight as my Gran and Aunt had diabetes and i didn't want to end up with it.

I lost weight by using MFP to count calories and hairy dieters recipe books which have a good range of recipes. I've lost 15kg and DH has lost 10Kg as he got told he was overweight at an over 40 checkup.

I've also upped my running and now aiming to run a half marathon in October.

I feel so much better about myself and down to a size 8-10 from a 14.

Good luck and think how much better you'll feel healthwise.

I have about 6 stone to lose and some health problems that have acted as a wake up call. For me it's been important to change my lifestyle to something healthier than the bad habits I somehow seem to have fallen into rather than just to get the weight off any old how. So that meant no to faddy diets or meal substitutes. I followed the basic philosophy Amelia Freer's 10-day plan, but also substituted some of my own recipes in to cater for family likes/dislikes. It helps that I'm a good cook. I stuck with that and her other recipe books for a few weeks until I'd internalised the good habits and have since just tried to stick to the spirit of it rather than the letter (i.e. lots of fruit and veg and trying to include healthy food groups every day rather than focusing on what to cut out). To start with, I kept a tally on a post-it note of how many of each food group I'd managed, but I'm not bothering anymore. If I feel I'm going off-piste, starting that again would be something I could do to get back on track.

I feel well and energetic on my new diet, and positive about sticking to it. The key is to find foods you like that meet the criteria - just slavishly following a diet plan full of food that feels like a penance is doomed to fail imo. I haven't incorporated any exercise into my weight loss plan, even though I would like to become more active in due course. But again, I want to come up with a plan that's sustainable and haven't managed that yet. My lifestyle is such that I have to spend a lot of time driving, so counterbalancing that with exercise is going to take some thought.

I've lost 16 lbs in about 8 weeks. I obviously have quite a way to go, but I feel confident in following through because it's all been pretty effortless, even though I'm a proper foodie. If I'm going to lose all the weight I need to to get to a healthy BMI it will probably take me a couple of years, but I will look and feel better a lot sooner than that, which is good motivation. HTH. Good luck.

Down 2.5 stone. In reality it's more as neen up amd down like a yoyo. Last summer I had, possibly, a very (very) mild heart attack. Whatever it was it was a wake up call.

Still have about 2 stone to go, as does DH, so we're on the case. It will, barring floods and disasters and any other health issues (I'm a bit wonky), be gone by the end of this year.

I aimed to get healthier 2 years ago, I put on two stone. But have not had a cigarette now in over 2 years.... half success, half failure 😄

My friend lost over 11 stone through just good old fashioned “eat less move more”

She uses My Fitness Pal to track calories and does a gym class or YouTube video workout at least 5 times a week, and walks pretty much everywhere.
