My DS3 has been given phenergen via the doc for bad travel sickness tonight is the first time we are going to give it (husband just passed driving test) he is at right ahe for it ect.
Heres the thing my DD1 is also very travel sick we went 30mins in the car and she threw up everywhere. She was facing forward so wasnt backwards which is even worse for her. Can she has some phenergen am a bit concerned as she is so small only on 9th centile so is just over 18lb?

Pretty sure even going just by weight 18lbs would be too light for forward facing

No don’t give it to the baby without asking a doctor or pharmacist first.

And I sympathise as I have a 14MO who also travels forward facing due to travel sickness (it’s thankfully solved the problem for us) but she’s big enough to do so. The UK law is to rear face until at least 15 months for isize height based seats or 9kg (20lbs) for weight based seats.

In our US state the law is literally one sentence along the lines of put your child in a suitable seat but you still can’t forward face a child who weighs less than 20lb as a suitable seat doesn’t exist.

Weight based seats can take a child forward facing from 9kg which is around 20lbs so you are correct that the OPs child is not heavy enough to forward face if using that type of seat.

OP, your baby should rear face until at least 20lbs if it is a weight based seat and until at least 15months if it is an iSize seat

www.drugs.com/phenergan.html

"Phenergan should not be given to a child younger than 2 years old. Phenergan can cause severe breathing problems or death in very young children. Carefully follow your doctor's instructions when giving this medicine to a child of any age."

Off topic but your 13 month old shouldn't be forward facing OP. She should still be rear facing. It's the safest option

No it is for children over 2years at the youngest

@MrsMotherHen No, just the one dose the night before we travel.

You can buy it at a Chemist in Aus but it's behind the counter so needs to be requested. I stock up when I go home but use it sparingly.
