AIBU to think this is not 2 hours' work?

First world problem alert.

I had new cleaners come today. When they visited previously they said I'd need 3 hours for the whole house.

We agreed on 2 hours weekly as I can't afford 3 and I thought that getting the house cleaned over 2 weeks with an hour for extra stuff would work well.

They came today. It's 2 people for 1 hour so 2 hours' work.

Yesterday I tidied the whole house so all surfaces were clear, floors clear etc.

They did:
Vacuumed 3 out of 4 bedrooms.
"Cleaned" the bathroom but the bath is still dirty and the floor wasn't done.
"Cleaned" the kitchen (which was pretty clean anyway) but the sink is dirty still
Vacuumed downstairs except not the front room
Didn't mop any hard floors (it's almost all hard floor downstairs)
I think they dusted some rooms. But I don't have any ornaments or a lot of surfaces.

I don't feel that's enough for 2 hours. My house is still dirty!

AIBU to not want to pay £30 for that? And should I give them another chance or just find other cleaners?

That sink hasn't been bleached. Stainless is easy to clean with bleach. They are taking the piss.

Zintox The sarcasm wasn’t very clear lol. They haven’t even touched the sink with a wet cloth by the looks of it.

Curly no it’s not rusty it’s just limescale water stains.
It’s not been cleaned at all in my opinion Cansu and quack, I can’t see how they can say it has been

Update: they went totally silent over the weekend then messages yesterday to say they would invoice for £15. I’ve not received it yet but will pay when it comes.
I still think they’re lucky to get even that and they still don’t accept they did a bad job but at least it’s sorted.

The problem lies with no regulation, anyone can call themselves a cleaner. If u think of how littletrainibg or education u need for the job then it’s very well paid. Yes it’s hard work but still. My mum was fleeced for over a year with her cleaner and it took that long to persuade her to sack her.

I was a cleaner for someone for over a year and it was all very dirty while wood floors, every shelf had 20 ornaments worth £1000s from around the world. I scrubbed everything and moved every little thing in 2 hours!

When I was in my third trimester and until the baby was 6 months old I had a pair of cleaners for 2 hours a week and they did a full one off clean to start with lasting about 3 hours. They did a great job every week and I wish I could afford to have kept them on all the time. I still have them in to do a clean on an ad hoc basis and they always do a great job of the whole house in two hours and there are 6 of us living here making mess.

I’d say yours have done a poor job but if this is the first visit I’d give them a second opportunity to see if it’s just a case of having too much to do in an familiar house or how they regularly will be doing it. If they do a better job second visit then it will likely get better as they go along and get on top of things. If the latter then I’d say get rid and get some recommendations from friends/local area before hiring another x

Sorry just read your update, I should have FTFT.

madeyemoodysmum · 01/08/2018 07:51

I used to clean an entire 4 bed in 3 hours alone.
And that was filthy

My own house (not filthy) I take 2/3 hours to do a really top job That's glass and mirrors wiped. Dusting
Floors Hoover and mop and bathroom and loo done.

ferntwist · 01/08/2018 07:57

YANBU to never use them again, no second chances. I’m not sure you’re within your rights to pay £15 instead of £30 for this time though, although if you’re feeling up for it you could do it and get into an almighty row with them which doesn’t seem worth it.

ferntwist · 01/08/2018 07:58

Just seen update. Good for you for sticking up for yourself over the £15.

Pay and then sack

The problem is it’s shit money for them
They probably have to travel either side for a tenner each

It’s not worth it for anyone

I used to be a cleaner ( was a long time ago now so the memories are a bit hazy) one house I did had;
4 bedrooms
4 bathrooms
2 living rooms
Office
Massive kitchen
Dinning room
2 massive hallways.
I worked in a pair for 3 hours once a week.
We had yo;
Hoover all rooms, sweep any Harwood floors.
Mop all floors
Dust everywhere
Empty all bins
Clean all bathrooms (3 of which had a bath/shower)
We would also straighten things up around the rooms, make the beds etc.
I had to do this myself one day because the other person was I'll. I managed it in the 3 hours (was hard work right enough haha and I only charged the usual amount)
They are being lazy and taking the piss, get new cleaners.

Timeisslippingaway · 01/08/2018 08:37

Oh and we cleaned all the mirrors and polished the wood furniture.
