To be fed up and frustrated with my stupid hair?

Going on big holiday in a few weeks. I've worked hard to look good for it, eating right, exercising, skin care etc but I sometimes wonder what's the point? I always look a mess because of my stupid frizzy hair. It's curly, not cute curly but Monica from friends curly, a hint of warmth and it goes full Afro.

I've just been looking at my Thailand holiday photos from a few years back and I look ridiculous in all of them, like a comical nutty professor.

I know it's a first world problem but it's really getting me down, it makes me so self conscious. I'm 38, the frizz makes me look 68.

I have exactly the same problem op. Having children seems to have ruined it beyond repair. I tie it back but still have a halo of frizz. It’s really, really bad. I was actually thinking of starting a thread on the style boards to ask for advice. The ‘curly girl’ method hasn’t really worked for me!

Stop using shampoo, wash with silicone-free conditioner only, ditch as many chemicals as possible, style with pure argan or avocado oil.

World of difference.

Use warm olive oil on your hair for ten mins before washing, shampoo twice no conditioner.

Practice so cool up dos to keep the hair in check during the day and then wavy when you do out at night?

Can someone post a link for the home straightening stuff?

I went on Amazon but there's lots..

I have similar but mine is very curly. I think you have to either Embrace the curl and go full on curly girl method to encourage them or fight it with keratin or professional straightening treatments.
I chose to fight it most of the time. I use morroccan oil smoothing cream then babyliss big hair to smooth it out then use a keratin hot brush to go over it and spray with L'Oréal anti frizz hair spray.
It's an ordeal I can only manage a couple of times a week though.
If you don't fancy full curly girl method then treseme botanique stuff is brilliant.

Sorry didn’t mean to cause controversy with my comment. A friend of mine who has incredibly frizzy hair swears by this - her hair really is a bomb on the top of her head though - totally untameable. The relaxer seems to be work miracles on it.

100% curly girl method, it’s fantastic. There’s a great Facebook group for it. If you’re going to a humid climate that’ll turn you into a scarecrow then products without glycerin are your friend.

of course an afro is not a mess. but a frizzy mop looks bloody awful on me so I pay to get rid of it.

this curly girl (eewwwwwww name) stuff is a load of farting about. smooth hair means comb and done.
