To ask them to move it?

Regular poster but NC for this. New neighbours have moved into our street about a month ago. Middle class area. They have been loud and rowdy since they moved in, blasting loud music all day every day in their garden, arguments etc. They smoke very strong smelling cannabis in the garden that makes all of our houses smell if windows or doors are open.

Their latest thing appears to be they’ve got their shopping from the supermarket round the corner and brought it back in a trolley as they don’t have a car. They’ve left the trolley outside their back garden on our private shared access driveway. There has also been a large amount of general waste and fag butts scattered all over the driveway so I picked the butts up and threw them next to the trolley. This coupled with the trolley itself has made our area look disgusting and dirty.

It’s been there for a week now. AIBU to sellotape a note to the trolley with something along the lines of ‘can you please remove this from private shared land’? I’d confront them but don’t want any shouting aimed at me

Or ring the supermarket and inform them of the missing trolley, they will uplift it

FinallyHere · 27/07/2018 14:12

Private shared land, hmmm, tricky, very tricky. Who gets to decide?

YeTalkShiteHen · 27/07/2018 14:13

Not sure why it being a middle class area is relevant, that’s shitty antisocial behaviour no matter where you live.

But aye, call the supermarket and they’ll come and get the trolley.

Readyfortheschoolhols · 27/07/2018 14:14

Put a grow bag in it and plant some tomatoes.
Then you can move it around to get the sun whenever you need to!!
*sorry useless advice but dying to grow some myself!

frillytots · 27/07/2018 14:14

I have been thinking about that but I’ll just go in the store when I’m free and see if I can speak to a manager. I’m not really sure why they haven’t taken it back, although I suppose you would look strange walking about with an empty trolley

It’s stolen. They’ve stolen the trolley. Or at least twocked it. Call the supermarket.

Sorry if the middle class bit causes any confusion, running on empty today because of the heat! I was trying to say it’s a well kept area so the new neighbours rubbish etc. is sticking out like a sore thumb at the minute and putting all our efforts to waste. We all take care of the shared driveway and they’ve just swooped in and littered it with all sorts

A grow bag would be a great idea as I’m struggling for room in my gardens this yearGrin

Report abandoned trolly by email to,store. They will- eventually- pick up. They will not pick up from private property though

YeTalkShiteHen · 27/07/2018 14:26

That makes more sense OP, sorry if I bristled a bit (ironically I now live in a vvvv middle class area having come from a council estate and it’s messier here Grin)

But I can see how it would piss you off if you all go to a lot of effort to make the place look nice and there’s fag ends and nicked trolleys left lying around!

Is their house rented or owned? Could you contact the anti social behaviour department of the council? (I only ask if it’s rented or owned because if it’s rented you could try the landlord?)

Eemamc · 27/07/2018 14:34

Do they own, private rent or housing association? If they rent, there’s probably something in their tenancy agreement about the fag butts and upkeep of shared land which you could report
