AIBU to remind you that insect bites can be serious? On and a minor klaxon for the pic

I'm one of those people insects seem to love. I've been quite careful in the heat and been covered up but about a week ago I made a mistake.

I had a cool bath just before bed and used a smelly bubble bath.

I got bitten all over.

In the morning I took an antihistamine but the itching continued.

I went to the pharmacy to get their advice and I was given an antihistamine cream and told to keep taking the oral antihistamine. The cream said to use for 3 days and if no improvement to seek medical health.

Yesterday I had a hospital appointment for something unrelated. As I managed to park easily I was very early so called in at the minor injuries unit. just to see if I could carry on with the treatment or use something else.

The nurse was lovely but concerned so called the prescribing nurse. They have put a mark on the edge of the worst bite and given me dire warnings that if I get a temperature or a red line to go to A and E.

Pic for sporners - sorry it's not infected, there is no pus.

I got bitten on my temple monday evening. Woke up tuesday to my eye almost swollen shut. Even now, it's still puffy.

I get huge reactions too. Provided they don't get infected they can be managed without needing a doctor. Fenestril, ammonia (afterbite) antihistamine, hydrocortisone, ice cubes and buckets of cold water 5 days later job done

I feel your pain I get massive reactions too and usually end up with cellulitis at least once a summer due to buy bites

You need 'Skin so soft' by Avon, it will stop you being bitten.

Loupy

I react to most Avon products so I'll give it a miss. But thanks for the recommendation
