.. Lay a lawn. I don't have one. I said I'd lay a lawn in my back garden for this summer for dc to play out but due to various reasons never got to it. Now in a position to do it but feel like as it's half way through summer holidays the chances are dc won't get to play on it much before weather turns again. Not sure when gardener would be able to fit me in to do it then it's around 3weeks before it can be walked on.

No point at the moment it’s far too hot and dry.

Lonecatwithkitten · 26/07/2018 15:21

Lay it September/October it will be great by next year.

lutjanus · 26/07/2018 15:22

I would think it would just shrivel up and die as it doesn't have anough roots to cope with this heat even if you water it.

GreenTulips · 26/07/2018 15:23

Wait till September and use seeds

BunsOfAnarchy · 26/07/2018 15:23

Personally id just get it done. They can still play on it in the coming months.

BunsOfAnarchy · 26/07/2018 15:24

Forgot to add...once it cools down a little.

FirstTimePetitioner · 26/07/2018 15:25

We laid ours in September, it was lovely for the spring.

Yogagirl123 · 26/07/2018 15:26

New turf requires a lot of care, and lots, and lots of water. I would wait until spring.

sharkirasharkira · 26/07/2018 19:16

Turf/seed needs to be laid in the active growing seasons, basically spring or autumn. They do need lots of water. You'll be better off waiting until sept/oct to concur with pp!

Feels like it's half way through the summer holidays?
Most of our schools broke up last Friday and some on Tuesday just gone, ie 2 days ago!!!

Crunchingcarrots · 26/07/2018 21:03

@notacooldad doesn't feel like it's half way through it is half way through. Schools here broke up end of June (Scotland) they go back mid August.

I forgot Scotland goes back before England.
To be honest it seems late for some of our schools to break up this week.

polkadotpixie · 26/07/2018 22:20

My husband laid ours last week

It's a ballache to keep it watered but it's taken really well and grown to the point of needing a haircut already
