It's a P+C parking one but with a twist

AIBU to still be silently seething about this one.
I was at the supermarket yesterday with my 9 yr old DS, this particular Supermarket is some sort of MN utopia, the P+C Car park is round the side a good 50-60m walk from the store, disabled parking in front of the store and some of the front car park. Now there are also several Disabled bays in the P+C parking area, think a row of disabled bays with the last 3 P+C (along with the rest of the car park).
We don't always use the P+C but it is right next to the recycling so we often do use it and drop off bottles, then go to the shop. So onto yesterday, we went in I parked up in one of the P+C bays and jumped out to drop off the bottles DS loiters with car until I come back, there is a car next to the recycling, I don't really pay it any attention, as we are walking to the store the car drives past and the front seat passenger leans out and start shouting at us, I'm not paying attention until I hear 'you're not even disabled are you' I realise she is having a pop because she thinks we've parked in a disabled bay, the car drives down into the car park. I don't even have time to think of a witty and scything reply, I spend half the time in the store hoping she will confront us so I can point out her error and accept her no doubt groveling apology. It didn't happen, It's still on my mind. I have too much time on my hands don't I?

Regardless of whether Op should have used the space for a 9 year old.

OP YAB totally ridiculous to still be annoyed by someone driving past and saying “you’re not even disabled”. Come on, how did that even affect you? You’re not a snowflake, you won’t melt from a loud remark.

Would the answer be to do away with P & C spaces and instead install wider than average spaces (to be used by anyone) at a distance from the entrance? (with a safe walking route in) These could then be used both by P & C (to get car seats in and out) and anyone with a larger than average car who is worried about (or incapable of) getting their car into a normal sized space.
I have a small car so it doesn't bother me, but the average supermarket parking space is not massive. In places like the USA they expect people to have gigantic cars and the spaces are sized accordingly.

What are people going on about here? She has a child under 12, the space is for parents with children under 12. Add it up.

Our Tesco has two rows of wide spaces. The amount of tiny cars I see parked in them is laughable. Yesterday there was a smart car in one!

Reminds me of the time I was shouted at in the Lidl car park for using a parent and child space despite holding an actual baby in a car seat in my left hand. I could almost have understood it if the spaces were next to the disabled spaces or if they didn’t have huge signs above saying “parent and child parking only” but I couldn’t understand what his problem was. Apparently I was being a “self centred cow” and wasn’t entitled to use the space. Mind you, if he managed to miss the fact that I was carrying a car seat then I guess he probably couldn’t tell he was being a massive knob either!

But anyway. I wouldn’t lose sleep over it OP. They’ll realise they were a knob eventually (or probably not, but they still were one!).
