To ask for tips on how to sleep?

Not an aibu but guessing a lot of women on here will of been in my position.

Currently 34 weeks pregnant. It's very hot....I'm very uncomfortable and I feel like insomnia is starting to kick in.

I've barely slept the last 3 nights. Probably 2 hours at the most. 2 dcs already....aged 9 and 6. It's the start of the school holidays.....they are bored, I am shattered....so all in all, fun times 👍🏻 (jokes Hmm)

Anyone have any tips on how to sleep better in the 3rd trimester?

I find every night about this time I start to get my energy back and I suddenly have the urge to clean and get tidied up. I've done this the last 2 nights but by the time I've got in bed, I'm wide awake. Can't get my kind to switch off, can't get comfy, can't stop getting up for a wee.

So tonight I'm resisting the urge to tidy even though I'm 'nesting' and I'm desperate to go check all the sell by dates in the food cupboard and also clean the oven.....

I need to sleep tonight if I can. Any suggestions? I do have a fan which is a god send but doesn't help me get to sleep

Google sleep breathing excercises, I'm sorry I don't remember the sequence right now but you'll find it easily and it's been great for my dd. Worth a shot.

I posted the Same the other day and got some good tips I'll try and find my thread

I have invested in a cooling mat and a cooling towel as well as a good fan

As for general 3rd trimester comfort a good bump pillow is a must!

I was heavily pregnant this time last year and remember it being horrendous.

I: kicked DP out of bed a few times so I could spread out, wrapped myself around one of those long pregnancy pillows, had DP put ice cubes all over my back/spray me with water, went to bed with wet hair to keep me cool, listened to rain sounds and audiobooks - I find the Harry Potter ones on Audible great as Stephen Fry's voice is lovely and very monotonous and helps me sleep - or having a film or TV show on quiet in the background, also Ovaltine before bed.

Pillowcase in the freezer for 30 mins or so before bed.
No TV & dim lighting
Get DP to give you a massage to help you relax
Stop tidying and just write a list of bits you want to do tomorrow
Sometimes reading a book gets me.

I went 2 weeks over with DD, I was so uncomfortable that I had to sleep sitting upright. It helped take some of the pressure off my back and hips.

Water spray, wet hair, and cooling mat all sound great thanks! Defo going to get the wet hair and water spray tonight.

Forgot to mention I also have the pillow which is great but doesn't really help me get to sleep. Heartburn is a nightmare too but I've got some pretty strong meds for that.

I've been tempted to kick dh out of bed tbh. I do feel I'd sleep better if he wasn't in bed but I'd just feel bad as he's working all the hours at the min and needs sleep as much as I do. Saying that, he isn't getting much sleep with Mrs fidget here so he might be up for a night on the sofa. I'll mention it to him when he gets in.

I'm feeling quite sleepy now tbh but I'm trying to resist actually going to sleep as no doubt I'll be wide awake in a couple of hours.

Thanks for the advice x

Bottle of water in freezer for a bit, stick in a bowl nearish your fan & colder air will be yours. You have my sympathy, it sucks I know!

Put a damp towel in the freezer. For 20 minutes.
Put a dry towel or two on top of the bed then put the damp cold towel on top of the dry two.
Lie down on it Grin
It's a shock at first....but a very lovely one.

Made me cool down enough to all asleep. Before I woke up sweating a few hours later!
