Just what it says.
Planning to take my daughter around Christmas time when she'll be 3 and I'm just wondering what to expect?
It would be Windsor however we are near Manchester there's one near the Trafford centre I think?
Anyway through it at me what best, what can I expect your thoughts and experiences please!

There's one near Trafford? Huh, didn't realise.

mummmy2017 · 25/07/2018 18:48

Please don't go you que for an hour for a 3 min ride...

RowenaDedalus · 25/07/2018 18:50

Trafford centre one is more of a two hour trip- indoor play area etc. Windsor is totally different. So depends what you want from the day really!

littleducks · 25/07/2018 18:52

The one in Windsor is a theme park. It's suitable for 3 year old especially if you go in term time. But think it shuts for the winter.....or just shop is open for Christmas which wouldn't be worthwhile.

DMCWelshCakes · 25/07/2018 18:52

Check the opening hours for Windsor - it shuts in the winter & only opens on certain days.

We went lots when the children were younger. Plenty to do for a 3 year old.

bookmum08 · 25/07/2018 18:53

I wouldn't bother. Buy her a Lego set instead. If she is three it could be her first 'big girl' set.

stressedtiredbuthappy · 25/07/2018 18:55

Was actually planning to make a weekend of it Lapland uk one day LEGOLAND the next?
A brief look at the website says it is open over Christmas is it massively expensive once you're in the park??

Legoland Windsor is a theme park but "shuts" in winter. It is open around Christmas time, but as a special xmas event, not as a normal theme park. The one near trafford centre is not a theme park but a discovery centre.

I've been with a 3 year old twice. Once with dc1 who loved it and once with dc4 who didn't like most of it. The only ride dc4 would go on was the train, we went on about 4 times I think.

Grandmaswagsbag · 25/07/2018 18:59

We took my 3 yo to Lego land Windsor and she loved it. No idea what the Trafford one is like. Plenty to do for that age and queues for the little rides weren’t to bad. We used some special offer vouchers, I wouldn’t pay full price.

Gracey79 · 25/07/2018 19:00

As an aside I took my 3 yo to the one inside the Trafford centre yesterday, he doesn’t particularly like Lego and he loved. Defo isn’t all day as pp said, think the wristbands are for 3 hours which was just enough. There’s also a sealife centre you can get entry to for not much more of an admission fee but that’s not as good imo

DroningOn · 25/07/2018 19:01

Definitely worth the trip at that age. Consider paying extra for the que jumping pager gizmo they offer, makes it much more bearable r.e. Queueing. Also take swimwear and towels, there's a water area and the kids love it.

TeenTimesTwo · 25/07/2018 19:02

If you're going all the way to Windsor for LEGOLAND with a toddler, you might as well go a bit further and go to Paulton's Park including Peppa Pig World near Southampton. Very toddler friendly. Also closes over winter though.

widget2015 · 25/07/2018 19:02

Legoland is open at Xmas but not all the rides are running. However, the numbers are much more limited so the queues for rides are short. You also get to meet father Christmas. The tickets are ££££

stressedtiredbuthappy · 25/07/2018 19:02

Thanks gracey, she loves sea life obsessed with baby sharks at the mo!!

DS is a huge Lego fan, but was pretty underwhelmed by the Trafford Lego Discovery centre when he was 5. There’s not a lot to it at all, and absolutely not comparable to LL Windsor.

We went to LL Windsor when the dc were 3 and nearly 7. Despite, or perhaps in spite of, going in August, there was loads for the 3 year old to do. All the queues were for the bigger rides.

stressedtiredbuthappy · 25/07/2018 19:04

Teentimes we're off to Bournemouth next week and are eagerly awaiting our trip to Peppa Pig world!

Just had a quick peek on trip advisor at Windsor it looks fab, but if hugely expensive might be worth waiting a few years.

I would leave Lapland UK for at least a year or two. It’s mega expensive and more suitable for primary age kids. No way would I do two big outings in one weekend with a toddler either.
