AIBU to think kids don’t need 3 meals in the school holidays?

Obviously not starving them. Hmm But is there anything wrong with (especially in this heat) my two primary school age DC not having three ‘proper’ meals a day during the holidays?! We’ve been pretty relaxed this holidays- getting up later so maybe having breakfast at 11, or not having it at all and then having an early lunch and dinner, or having breakfast and then a later Big picnic lunch and then they don’t feel like dinner so might have a snack in the evening instead.

Basically not sticking to the breakfast at 8, lunch at 12, dinner at 5.30 routine of school term time. AIBU to think it’s totally fine not to have set meal times in the holidays, and if they don’t feel like eating dinner it’s not a big deal? They are not snacking on endless food during the day although maybe have more snacks than normally allowed.

Your choice of course, and it is nice to be relaxed in the holidays.

I prefer the children to have 3 meals a day even if they don't eat much. I find they snack too much otherwise and then don't eat well in the evening. If three small healthy meals are provided you can also be more certain they are getting the nutrition they need. The effort required to cook anything in this heat is super human though

We are on about 4 meals..... breakfast at 6 means they want lunch at 11 (lunch at school is 10.30 Shock), then want a massive snack by about 4, and dinner at 7. It's endless food in this house.
But if yours are happy and healthy, what does it matter?

When we go on holiday I have discovered that the least stressful option is big breakfast, lots of snacks, decent tea. No-one is interested in lunch except me.

One of the joys of the holidays!

Mine would riot if I didn't feed them 3 meals 😂😂😂 both get hangry without proper food so it's non negotiable.

However times are more relaxed and we eat in front of tv or out more.

I wouldn't mind if mealtimes change but do find that 2 meals and snacks tends to be unhealthy, high sugar/fat and high calorie si worse for them.

My eldest is like this. She's 13 and has been out with friends most of the holidays only meal I know she's eating every day is dinner.

My younger two are eating breakfast and lunch when they want it but defo still eating it and have dinner at same time every night as my husband moans if any of us say we don't want dinner cause he's a stick up his arse about dinner being important and if they don't eat dinner they won't get anything else (and of course mainly cause he is hungry, so everyone else must be too!)
