Hi all
Previous thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/3295398-Reduced-movements-long-sorry

I'm due to see the Dr for review after another doppler scan and ctg monitoring. I'm not feeling brave or optimistic that they are going to listen to me and tbh I just want to cry. obviously it's my health and I'm in no way unreasonable regarding that but I just want to know if I'm doing the right thing? Or does anybody have any opinions on what I should be requesting. I don't know what to do 😭

I've been reading your other thread, and I completely see why you're concerned.

Tbh if I was in your shoes I would be demanding a section ASAP, stating that I was aware of all the risks involved with an earlier section but that I 100% felt it was for the best for the baby.

You're not happy with your movements, and haven't been for a while. That should be enough (though clearly in your case it's not). Mothers instinct is a powerful and you are the advocate for your baby. You need to muster up as much strength as you can find and demand that something is done sooner rather than later. You're not at a stage in your pregnancy where there are likely to be many complications from an earlier section, so I can't see how they can refuse if you are adamant that you're not leaving the hospital until they arrange an earlier date for you.

I wish you all the best and I will keep my fingers crossed that they listen to you.

Thank you
Still waiting for the Dr
I keep repeating to myself that I CAN stand up and demand this, I'm not a FTM, I'm not just paranoid and frankly I NEED something more than a 10 minute ctg.
I hope in reality it comes out like that

Have you had a look at the Kicks Count website? Big national charity promoting awareness of baby movements in pregnancy. I think everyone who reads this would agree they’d love you to keep us updated though.

beargryllshasabigrope · 25/07/2018 14:37

It will! You can absolutely do this

GKite · 25/07/2018 14:38

Spoke to the Dr, they won't bring the section forward.
Ctg Monitoring booked for Monday but to phone if movements stay reduced, so I said I'll be back here tonight then.
She just laughed and gave me my notes back
Well that's that

Flowers OP.

Go in again if you feel a slowdown. I felt movements slow down for my ds and wish i had pushed for an early section. He was an emcs at the end as his heart rate slowed down.

Somewhereovertherainbow13 · 25/07/2018 14:46

I feel very sorry for you op but do not agree with pp that you are far enough along to be over the risks of an early section and comments like that shouldn’t be passed around. I had a emcs at 36 weeks and of course baby should have been fine by most people’s ‘expert knowledge’ but he wasn’t and spent 2 weeks in nicu

AmazinglyGraceful · 25/07/2018 14:46

Think it’s better to be constantly in the triage unit being checked than faced with the worse. Don’t let them make you feel like you’re being a neusance.

ambereeree · 25/07/2018 14:47

I would just go back again tonight tbh

GKite · 25/07/2018 14:50

Oh no I certainly will be back,
I haven't felt any movement but that's become normal for me. Usually won't get movement until 9 and it'll be 1-4 kicks/punches/head buts and then nothing until late the next evening.
I appreciate that not every baby is fine but this has been on going for almost 3 weeks now, I've had steriods, I've even got in smaller baby clothes as the consultant agreed that baby hasn't put on as much weight as they'd have expected.
This is absolutely distressing for me

@Somewhereovertherainbow13, same here only my daughter was born at 38wks and still spent 10days in nicu and special care.

AmazinglyGraceful · 25/07/2018 14:52

Op, are you able to talk to another hospital and get a 2nd opinion??

Okaywhatelse · 25/07/2018 14:57

Name the hospital and hope the DM picks up this thread.
Have you asked PAL to advocate for you?
Ask the hospital to give it to you in writing that they have ignored all your repeated request about not feeling movements and if anything goes wrong they will take responsibility for it.
It's making me so angry for you!
I have had two emcs myself and both times was because of movements and I wasn't ignored! Mothers instinct is not to be ignored. We were very lucky both times. First one my son stopped moving, extremely weak movements. Second time I had an increased in movement. My daughter was in severe distress. I feel so upset for you.

BlueCookieMonster · 25/07/2018 15:35

Can you ask to speak to a consultant midwife, or the head of midwifery?

You’ve had the steroids etc.
