Beach/Pool bag dilemma

Hi,

Apologies if this has been asked before:

I’m off on holiday with my DH, DS(6) and DD(8months), I’m trying to work out how everyone else carts their stuff to the pool/beach etc.

I’deally, want to avoid a bag each or loads of bags...

I know this is first work problems and really isn’t a stealth boast, I’m just trying to work out how to transport towels, sun cream, drinks, snacks, nappies, wipes, bottles, books, etc.

Any help, advice or tips gratefully received. Smile

Thanks.

I’m taking a big blue Ikea bag. Inside will be separate bags (a combo of wash bags and zip lock ones) with sun creams / snacks / changing things / spare clothes / kitchen sink. Potentially a 2nd Ikea bag will be needed. But there are 5 of us. Plus a potty.

do you have a baby bag that you currently use to cart all dd2’s stuff around? Can you pack that up for her so all her stuff, maybe excluding food, is in one place and then see what space is available in it for other bits - suncream, anything for dd1.
Then a small cool bag for all food, snacks, drinks, bottles etc to keep it away from baby stuff and sandy/ chlorine-y stuff.
Then a big bag to put all towels and other stuff in. If it can fit cool bag and/or baby bag in - even better. Have stuff like towels, books, etc in different bags in the big bag, even just Sainsbury’s bags, to stop damp towels spoiling nice books etc.

Failing that get a couple of big ikea blue bags to throw everything in to carry down. Oh and see if you’re using a pram how it can help too.

We use a big shopping bag from the entertainer!

A big rucksack. You use it as one of your hold suitcases (tie up any dangling straps). Empty it when you arrive then one person can carry all the beach paraphernalia on their back leaving hands free.

Yes to the IKEA bag - a game-changer for us at the pool!

Fab thanks everyone. I’ve not got an ikea by me but do have big shopping bags I can use and a we currently have a big changing bag which fits on the back of the pram but on holiday we’re taking a smaller buggy, so using a backpack for all DD1 things (she seems to need more now than when a newborn!!). I just wanted to avoid looking like a bag lady on my way to the beach/pool as my DS will already have his inflatable Grin and know that in some places the sun beds are quite close together.

I’m guessing it’s not going to be the relaxing holiday tat holidays used to be. DS was quite a chilled baby, DD is a bit of a whirlwind and into everything.

Separate bags for type of thing - one for towels and swimming stuff which get wet and sandy, one usual nappy and spare clothes bag, one food bag, one for beach toys - I try to be quite strict about keeping stuff separate in this way so not everything gets covered in sand and it's easier to deal with stuff for the laundry or food to unpack in the evening

I like rucksacks as it keeps your hands free to wrangle the DCs.
I'd also use a couple to try and keep things a bit more organised and keep like with like.
Remember a plastic carrier/bin bag to put all the wet stuff in.

It's a bit of a 'look' but I have a sports direct bag on wheels. It holds everyone's towels, goggles, and other bits. It's heavily branded and not the best look but very practical as it can be dragged along or carried.

Another option I've used in the past is a shopping trolley, but that doesn't fold up whereas the bag does.

Maybe you could get one of those folding crate trolleys too?
