I know I'm being unreasonable, posting here for traffic but please help!
DD leaves primary school this week and her school have decided no disco or party of any description, just a church service.
After seeing how upset she was about not having a final party with her friends I agreed we would host the entire class at home. We just about have the space.
However this week I've had an accident meaning I can't use my dominant hand and now my cooker has broken with the replacement part not due until next week.
The party is on Thursday what on earth can I feed 25ish hungry 11 year olds with no cooker?

Pizza delivery?

Fishfingershamwich · 24/07/2018 22:14

Order in some pizzas? Or sandwich platters from m&s with crisps / fruit / cold sausages etc?

ProudThrilledHappy · 24/07/2018 22:15

Yep, pizza, wedges and pop!

beyondthesky · 24/07/2018 22:16

Rope in all the other parents to help. Explain your predicament and get everyone to bring something. It's for their children's benefit as well after all.

Misshatter · 24/07/2018 22:22

Had though of pizza but the cost is putting me off a little.
I have already bought frozen pizzas and wedges and onion rings and so on. I just can't cook any of it.
Ive asked the few parents I know but unfortunately they all have work and can't help. I don't feel able to ask the other paretas I don't really know them. I don't normally do the school run due to work.
I've stocked up on pop, crisps, sweets and nachos with all the toppings but have had no further suggestions.

Morrisons do party food that you order online. Can have all cold stuff and just heat up sausage rolls! X

doubleshotespresso · 24/07/2018 22:34

Could you get some cardboard cones and get some take-away chips in to fill them?
Can you grill some home-made mini-burgers? Or is the whole oven completely kaput?
Or could you batch cook some bolognaise on the hob and do mini spag bol for all?
Buy pre-cooked chicken and make wraps (no heat required)?
Tuna & sweetcorn pasta bowls?
Chicken skewers with veggies and dips?
Sandwiches?
There must be some parents who could help you out surely? If you were near me I would help you no problem

SadTrombone · 24/07/2018 22:37

Most major supermarkets offer large sandwich / sausage roll platters as part of their online grocery range.

Misshatter · 24/07/2018 22:49

Unfortunately no grill, gas oven and a crack in a pipe so the gas is switched off for safety.
I do however have every kitchen gadget imaginable, I've just drawn a complete blank as I was so set on pizza and chips. I'm blaming the pain killers!
DD and friends like the idea of chicken wraps and they can all self serve as I can't actually lift anything.

Morrisons! Wrap platters, sandwich platters, baguette platters.... all self serve and no fuss/mess for you if you're after wraps! (Sorry, had them before and they're good!!!)

SilverHairedCat · 24/07/2018 22:53

Do you have a slow cooker? Can you borrow two or even three?

Make a batch of slow cooked pulled chicken or chicken fajitas. Get the prep done the night before, with help obviously.

SilverHairedCat · 24/07/2018 22:54

Actually with all the extras you have, one large slow cooker would probably be enough!

Mamamiaherewegoagainmymy · 24/07/2018 22:54

Long shot but could you 'cook' the pizzas in a frying pan for the base then grill the toppings?

Mamamiaherewegoagainmymy · 24/07/2018 22:55

Scrap that just realised you have no grill.....

Doyoumind · 24/07/2018 22:55

Hot dogs? Boil on the cooker and kids serve themselves.

autumndreaming · 24/07/2018 22:56

Definitely sandwich platters, you don't have to do anything!

I have 4 slow cookers I didn't even think of pulled chicken or fajitas. Will go with the nachos too.
Shall rope DH in to prep it all Wednesday.
Thank you.

Surely in this heatwave you don’t need to cook anything? Just have cold food. Or pop round to your neighbours and ask them to help by heating up some of your party food for you in their ovens?
I’m sure given the circumstances they’d not object to just popping some pizzas in for you? If they’re really decent, they might even come and help you serve it up, in exchange for a drink or a pizza slice!

DigitalGhost · 24/07/2018 23:02

Frankfurters on a BBQ. Super easy and quick!

PlaymobilPirate · 24/07/2018 23:07

Hot dogs from tins in the slow cooker!?

Charley50 · 24/07/2018 23:07

When I had parties for my DS hardly anything got eaten anyway. Just do hummus and carrot sticks etc, crisps, fruit and sweet stuff.

RandomMess · 24/07/2018 23:08

Hot dogs in the slow cooker will be very easy and inexpensive.

Misshatter · 24/07/2018 23:09

I would normally BBQ but one handed barbecuing is not something I feel like attempting. And I don't trust excited 11 year old to help.
Only been in our house 4 months know a few of the neighbors to say hello to but couldn't ask to use there cooker.
The fijita and pulled chicken with salad and nachos is a big hit with DD and friends so I'm all sorted DH can prep it all before work Wednesday night and the kids can serve themselves with no real danger of burning themselves.
