Why go only 2 people but hand soap at work?

15 or do women using a loo. Work provides a wall dispenser of swarfega type soap so we want nice hand wash, we buy it. Only two of us buy it. It’s not expensive but it gives me the rage. What can I do to get over myself? Accept people are just entitled and think “someone else does it”

I buy Aldi/Lidl soap because the stuff at work is shit. Other people then started bringing in nice soap so I rarely had to.

I bought washing up liquid once but never again cos no other fucker did and I don’t use the work provided crockery.

Good grief. Many many typos sorry. Confused. The free stuff is like Ajax scouring powder. It’s known that the nice (well Radox/ Carex- not Molton Brown!) is personally purchased by a couple of us. My issue is with myself getting the rage. I can’t be arsed with a mini bottle or the like. My AIBU is a yes- I know I am BU. Just wondering why it bugs me so very much on the day when it runs out like it has today!

For reasons I don’t understand the cleaners at work don’t replenish the soap. When it runs out someone needs to get more from a cupboard. I seem to be the only one of the 30 women who can do this.

Griefbacon · 24/07/2018 22:32

I buy scourers too...people will use threadbare stinking ones rather than buy any it would seem Envy(yuk)
Oh my god. I’m a freak aren’t I?

Its soap. Keep it in your bag or just share it. Do you not have actual issues to worry about?! Shall I invoice my colleagues for the painkillers or tampons I leave in out bathroom? Its what £2/£3 a month max. Get a hobby.

bilgerat · 24/07/2018 22:37

I have the opposite problem.

We had to get rid of the swarfega in our washroom because it wasn't in a proper dispenser so now we've got the same nice soap in a dispenser that's in the loos and it's absolutely no use when I'm trying to actually get my hands clean Angry

niknac1 · 24/07/2018 22:37

I use the Lidl corn hand wash, I think it’s about 55p for 500ml, which I think is probably about half the price of normal hand wash and maybe even twice as much product. I used to buy the branded products but find the Lidl hand wash just as good. I would select a few to try as it’s less costly and maybe ask if everyone wants to chip in.

BottleOfJameson · 24/07/2018 22:37

I wouldn't bother buying nice hand soap and if I some saw there I'd use it without thinking - assuming it had been provided by work. I think you should just take it with you when you go to the loo.

This happens at my work too. I go to the kitchenette and get the liquid hand soap (that I bought!) until my request for refills is met.

Cien not corn

Griefbacon · 24/07/2018 22:43

Plenty of real issues to think about sadly - I should have asked why this winds me up so much but only really on the day when I notice it needs replacing. I’ll be back on my real issues tomorrow and wishing I could float through life and not give small stuff head room. Wish I could edit too to remove typos!

My old office bought this anti-bac foam stuff for the dispensers, it was horrific. Instead of replacing the actual soap, however, we all brought in nice handcreams.

No arguments.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 24/07/2018 22:48

Empty one of the little alcohol gel pump dispensers and fill with soap, and clip to your belt! I do this with my moisturiser at work

I'm swinging wildly between Confused and Grin on this one.

GnotherGnu · 24/07/2018 22:58

Ask your employers to provide better soap.

didyouseetheflaresinthesky · 24/07/2018 23:00

I quite like the swarfega type soap. misses point entirely

BackforGood · 24/07/2018 23:05

I do get what you mean. It's not the money, per se, its the fact that no-one else every does it, but are happy to use it.
To my mind its the same as no-one at work ever emptying the dishwasher, or taking the teatowel to be washed no and then.
All it is, OP, is no-one ever thinks about it.
Why not just mention at a team meeting, or send an e-mail round and ask if everyone could give you £2, and you will volunteer to keep the wash basin and kitchen supplied with soap, washing up sponges and whatever else makes office life a bit nicer, until the money runs out ? Then you can have the 'spare' ready at work and never run out, and everyone knows it is a job someone needs to do.

Tink06 · 24/07/2018 23:13

Oh no! I honestly always thought if there was handwash/ cream in the loo it was for anyone to use. I have probably been giving someone the rage for years.....

Monkeypuzzle32 · 25/07/2018 19:32

actually thats a point-do the others realise you buy it, or do they just not even wonder where it comes from? No point asking for money IMO just put a little sticker on it saying 'please replace me when empty'
