To speak to the police?

Live in village with a lively group of kids / teens who often 'play out' in the parks and housing estates. The noise is ridiculous most nights with screaming shrieking and often swearing. To the point where windows are closed during the heat to keep the noise out.

The young (ten and under) children are one thing but the teens have gone from bad to worse over the years

Tonight after asking them to keep the noise down ( to not wake our toddler/ several of our neighbors work nights or are elderly) I was called a c##t among other things. For reference this group (all girls) are 13.

More recently criminal damage has started on property by the same group (the police were called about this)

I'm at my wits ends with it all and feel we should be allowed some peace that our road in particular doesn't need to be used as a playground. I'm thinking of speaking to the local community support officers about this but not sure it's worth the effort?

Not that it's excusing them, how confrontational were you when asking them to be quiet? I always find if you ask nicely and explain why, teens are usually accommodating.

If it's a small village, do you know the parents? can you talk to them?

Completely understand where you’re coming from - we used to have a group of 18ish yr olds park on our road and play music from their cars at top volume routinely. We got in touch with the police and it took a couple of calls over a few weeks, but eventually the police came out and ‘moved them on’ - they’ve gone elsewhere now. So ime it’s worth calling the police, but don’t expect a solution immediately. Hope you and toddler manage to get some sleep!

I honestly think I was really calm even saying 'we don't mind you playing out at all but please stop screaming'

Are we from the same village/town? There's a problem here too though I have to admit it's not all teens or young people but just a select few.

Very possibly

Surely their parents hear them too ~ if so I imagine they don't care.
Report to police. Contact your Parish Council and organise a survey of villagers issues or similar.
Surely there must be others as disturbed by this as you are.
