To think my breasts will get smaller as I lose weight?

Really this is a question for people who were/are significantly overweight/obese, and have lost weight, but I’d love to hear from those that have lost weight at all and have experience with this.

Basically someone I know has been approved for a breast reduction on the NHS. She’s overweight at the moment, I’m not sure by how much though. It got me thinking though. I’m unhappy with my breasts for similar reasons to her (backache, feel uncomfortable, get recurring skin infections, gross I know). But as I have just started to lose weight I wouldn’t even consider reduction surgery without first getting down to a healthy BMI. My thought has always been that some of it is definitely fat from eating too much. Definitely not all as I grew breasts from 10 years old and by 14 was a DD Cup, but I definitely think a significant amount is fat that will go if I lose enough weight.

AIBU to think that my breasts will reduce or does it not work like that?

(Please note I’m not criticising the acquaintance, part of me is very very jealous of her, and you gotta do what you gotta do! It’s more just about maybe I have unrealistic expectations of how my body will change).

Mine went from a 36H to a 32GG. I lost 2.5 stone. They are smaller but dont look it as they are in proportion to my smaller body.

I've lost 3 stone and it's made little difference apart from going from a 44 to 40 back size. Cup size is still the same, just flatter Hmm

Your cup volume has reduced by two sizes. A 44C (as an example) is the equivalent of a 40E, or the other way round, a 40C is the equivalent of a 44A.

At my biggest 36D. At my smallest 30GG. They never got smaller. Now a 34F and they still bulge in places they shouldn't. But they're not entirely offensive so they just sit there (with a lot of scaffolding)

Bombardier25966 · 22/07/2018 20:11

I went from a 38G to a 32F, a gradual seven stone loss. My boobs were one of the last places to lose the weight though. They're far more proportionate now just pretty saggy.

I'm against the NHS offering breast reduction for those that are not a healthy weight. If the patient can't put in the effort then the intervention (and the associated cost) is not justified.

Rowgtfc72 · 22/07/2018 20:13

So for those that were quite overweight and dropped a back size, was it back and side fat you lost and not actual front boob?
Don't mind keeping my 38h if the stuff that doesn't quite tuck in the bra vanishes!

Aridane · 22/07/2018 20:15

Boobs =, last place to lose weight and first place to gain it

iamyourequal · 22/07/2018 20:15

At 10st mine are a 34/36C. When I diet to
8 1/2st, they are 34B. Good luck OP and well done everyone else on the big weight losses!

minniemummy0 · 22/07/2018 20:17

Thank you so much for all the responses! Sounds like a very mixed bag and I’m going to have to just wait and see how it affects me!

I’m glad to hear some people definitely did reduce cup sizes. I thought, if the NHS are approving her surgery then they must not think weight has that much to do with it, if you see what I mean?

I lost 3st before my wedding. Went from an F to a DD. So yes it did come off my boobs. And feet too, which I found odd at the time, but does make sense.

HumphreyCobblers · 22/07/2018 20:18

As the back size goes down, the cup size gets smaller.

So a the F part of a 30F is much smaller than the F part of a 36F.

Most of you above posters saying your cup size remained the same, it did not, it got smaller!

reluctantbrit · 22/07/2018 20:46

13 stone = 38D

9.5 stone = 32E

Often you loose back size and gain cup size. This means you keep the proportions. Thanks to hormones I am now a 34GG, they are def bigger than even with the 38D.

Large cup doesn’t mean it is all fat.

38D to 34C here Smile

Another mother I knew had got as far as a consultant, I have large breast so was very interested in hearing about it she was told they would only proceed on NHS if a significant weight loss occurred with no change in breast size.

For her it would have required a three stone reduction in weight – so she’d be right at lowest end of normal BMI and no change in breast size. She also has a long waiting list to wait through.

She didn't persue it in the end weight loss for her brought a slight reduction so she wouldn't have been eligible on NHS in that area.

FWIW I went for a swim in my fat bikini yesterday

My tits pretty much floated out and the pants nearly feel down Angry
