Interview and broken ankle?

I've got an interview for a really good position on Friday. I haven't worked for a couple of years and this matches all my skill sets. It's quite niche and these kind of jobs don't come up very often.
But... I currently have a broken ankle. So I have a boot brace and crutches. The hospital says it'll be a week or so till I see a surgeon. My gp says it could be up to 8 weeks. Then they have to arrange surgery which could be god knows how long.
It's all just really bad timing
Aibu to think no matter how well I do I won't get the job because of this? My dh seems to think it'll be OK as he works in the same industry but I'm really doubtful.

I got a dream job last year after turning up to the interview with a broken nose and black bruising all over my face, having fallen over a couple of days earlier and landed on my face. I still have no idea why they gave me the job, but i can only assume that they felt sorry for me!

Did you break your ankle kicking in the interviewers car windows? No? Then go for it!!

MrsMozart · 22/07/2018 18:09

Crispy Horses... Though the leg / ankle was from tripping down a two inch step... Blush

totoromama · 22/07/2018 18:23

That's every one. I fell backwards over the dog so haven't even done it in a funny way to use as an icebreaker.

Falling backwards over the dog - you don't think that's funny?!!

A manager I knew got a job after she turned up to the interview in crutches and began by joking "I'm going for the sympathy vote"

Interview is tomorrow. I'm shitting myself.
I also managed to fall forwards on the carpet and carpet burn my nose on Monday. As my ankle wouldn't support me.
I'm fucked really

Think positive thoughts! Focus on your skills and what you can offer the organisation. Hope it goes well.

I had the Interview. Both interviewers were dog people. So understood. Now just waiting. I think it went well. So fingers crossed

Good luck. Hope you hear back soon.

MrsMozart · 28/07/2018 19:39

All bendy bits crossed!

Allegorical · 28/07/2018 19:56

I would try and see it as a positive.
It’s an easy conversational piece /ice breaker. If they interview a few people you will be easy to remember. Just be jovial about it.

Allegorical · 28/07/2018 19:57

Ooh sorry just seen your update. Fingers crossed x

redcarbluecar · 28/07/2018 20:07

Absolutely nothing to lose. If you don't go, you won't get it anyway, so go if you can. Hope it heals soon.
LOL at Anniegetyourgun. "I've got nothing against your right leg - the trouble is, neither have you".

Summerof2018 · 02/08/2018 15:24
