We have just completed on our house yesterday we finally got the keys from our seller at around 4pm The whole place has been left dirty marks on walls etc which I can cope with however I’ve gone out to the garden and she’s taken all the flowers from the borders and believe it or not the 8ft x 8ft deck I’m Shock the garden looks so ugly and I’m left with lots of rubble outside my patio doors. I called my solicitor and he was busy but will look into it first thing Monday. I just don’t know what to say, who takes their decking????? I’m so upset and angry right now..

@completionmisery you might find rose bushes named after your children as well.
I'm really excited about planning my new garden and being able to plant things. Suspect DDog not as pleased about the lack of mice to chase though.

Yanbu to be upset. We completed last month, and they took everything. Curtains, poles, flowers, light bulbs even the washing line! On top of this, they didn’t leave the house until 7/8pm despite having the money first thing. Angry

You’ll get it looking nice in no time and make it your home OP Flowers

Another good thing, slugs like to hide under decking so your nice new plants might not be eaten overnight.

I hate decking but due to the way our house was extended we have to have a strip outside the back, fortunately it is only a strip but there are always slug trails.

Whilst I think decking is not attractive, I still think the seller has been dishonest and the solicitor will hopefully deal with it. Hope the OP can get some money to make the garden beautiful.

With the various stories you hear (and indeed read on MN) about the behaviour of some sellers and the way they have left their old house, it is a pity there cannot be some kind of system where their previous behaviour is known to anyone else when they sell or buy in future.

I take my plants with me when I move but not bloody decking! Or if I did I'd make it known to the prospective owners

BeijingBarbie · 21/07/2018 14:13

When i moved into my first the previous owner took all the bricks from the garden boarder 🙄
So annoying and petty but at least you have got to choose your own lovely flowers - just remember they will need loads of watering in this weather as they won’t have established roots...

And (as others have said) decking is not great - but try and get some extra money from her anyway 😂

What happened OP? Was your solicitor able to sort anything out?

Completionmisery · 23/07/2018 23:23

I spoke to him this morning and he got in touch with the vendors solicitor and played merry hell, they have agreeed to sort out the decking situation which is a result! But the flowers were excluded on the fitting form so we can’t do anything about those. Im just waiting to see what happens now hopefully I can plan a lovely new patio and the cost will be covered Smile

Oh, I must have a dirty mind. This is not what I expected this thread to be about.

HollowTalk · 23/07/2018 23:28

Have a look at the advertisement for your house, OP. When it described the garden, did it mention decking?

Jimdandy · 23/07/2018 23:31

No problem. Hope you can get it sorted.
