Sorry OP I don't know anything about this but I would bump it tomorrow morning when more people are likely to be on MN. Hope you get the answers you're looking for!

I’m not sure what you mean by reading recovery, but I’d like help

Is this reading fiction and finding relief/comfort from RL situations?

My mum got into this for a while.

There's good things about it, but I wouldn't take it as a form of actual therapy, if this is what you're talking about. [because it's fiction and the author has a point to make or a story to tell or a bank balance to fill]

Do you mean reading recovery in early school? My daugh terms is getting it - she's about 80% of the way through the programme and has gone from level 3 to level 15 so far. It's fantastic. But she finds it very hard work.

DS did it. Reading literally came on leaps and bounds and is now exceeding his peers.

I'm an ex-RR Teacher. It's a brilliant literacy intervention with a huge evidence base. I did my training at the Institute of Education and would thoroughly recommend it.

My son sadly was only able to participate in this for a few months in year 1? But it really seemed to help him.

But beware on here. There a re a lot of people opposed to this. They will quote evidence ad nauseum. Yet every time I look at evidence to support a position on education I can always drive a horse and cart through it.

My DS has done reading recovery this year. It has been absolutely brilliant for him. He has always struggled with reading but the progress he has made has been amazing and it's given him so much more confidence. I can't recommend it enough! Smile
