AIBU to begrudge paying for dance lessons when the school is closed for summer

Dance Mum drama alert!
Both my girls dance, they absolutely love it. We recently moved them to a new dance school as it was smaller and we felt that they would get more from it- This was at their request (the other dance school was huge and my girls got a bit lost and felt they weren't progressing)

So the new school is a little more intense- ok that's what we wanted, the girls to receive more training and benefit. There are long training sessions both mid week and weekends. They are also a lot more expensive, as is the compulsory uniform which is £55 a pop. Dance festivals, show costumes (£40 each x 5 dances, x 2 children)

Yep its all adding up, but we know this is a good dance school and the girls love it, so I've accepted all that for now. Even they monthly in advance fess- all accepted.

Last week they canceled a full days' dancing because there was a festival on (my girls weren't involved as they are new)no mention of a refund. Ok, annoying but I let it go.

Today I get a text saying they are having 2 weeks off in the summer (great, a break for mums taxi)but they still expect a full months fees!

What now?! It's made worse by the fact we are away straight after this break meaning we miss a whole month. I accept we should pay for our holiday, but not theirs! Especially when monthly fees for them both are close to £200!!!

AIBU to send them half the months fees?

Is it an annual fee split over 12 months?
That's what ours is.... so rather than paying per class, we pay over the year but know that there are 2 weeks break in that and as a result it works out at an odd number per month as opposed to £5 per class or whatever....

Depends what their terms and conditions are.

It depends if it is an annual fee over 12 months, if it's not I wouldn’t pay for the month you are off as you aren’t there

We were given no terms and conditions. The fees are advertised as weekly but we are asked to pay monthly.

My dc trampoline lessons are the same. I pay monthly but it works out at 50 weeks of lessons, with a week off at Christmas and a week at Easter.
