AIBU - midwife expectations

This is not knocking midwives as there are some amazing ones out there - just I haven't met them!

So long story short I didn't have a great experience with my midwife in my first pregnancy. I found out the gender and she was massively judgey and wouldn't let me tell her! WTF! Had to refer to baby as 'it'! Certainly not playing that game this time!

Anyway she also forgot my whooping cough vaccine, told me I was having a 10lb baby becuase I was measuring so big (which was odd as lots commented how small the bump was) and then I wanted a home birth so luckily in my area they give you a presentation scan and then this is when I found the baby was small, low fluid, crap placenta, breech etc! Had to get that baby outta there asap!

Anyway - back to now I am now pregnant with my second and I can't remember who books the appointments and when. I have had a booking appointment, home visit and 12 week scan, I'm now 15 weeks and when looking at my notes see it says a 16 week appointment (I am now classed as high risk and meant to be under consultant care) and it says in the notes these are meant to booked at the last appointment. Should I have known this or should she have booked it? I work and its hard to just drop everything as the appointments are in the middle of the day (yes baby is priority but gotta earn a wage!) Ring my Doctors, no appointments for weeks, so I text the midwife as she text last time and I don't want to harrass her as I do understand they are busy and understaffed - no response for 48 hours- so ring to find she is uncontactable until 1 August - great! So ring the midwife team - no answer and leave a message.

Is this normal or just a bit crap?

I've had 3 babies and none of my midwives were like that. I was under consultant care for the last 2, and I believe it was organised by the midwife/GP surgery. Chase up the midwife team, if that doesn't work, try the hospital you'll be seen under. Reception should be able to redirect you to the right dept to speak to (even by phone). Good luck.
