We're organising a big get together at our little house next week and I'm slightly petrified.
I've been struggling with getting the house up to a certain level of cleanliness for a while, it's so small and we have little DCs and pets and the mess seems to multiply itself.

Pretty much every room in the house needs a clean, and bits need decluttering.
I'm on my own with a toddler and a baby for the next 2 days and I don't know when I'll get a chance to get stuck into cleaning when I'm juggling them. DC1 doesnt nap ad DC2 has about 30 mins in the morning and then about an hour to an hour and a half later on in the day. These are my only 2 days I'm able to clean as we are away at the weekend and on Monday I might or might not be able to get an hour in.

How do I occupy both DCs and be able to get the house up to scratch?

Get toddlers favourite film playing, (or back to back cartoons) and settle with drink and snack once youngest is down, then do big clean. Going forward, Isn't your toddler eligible for free nursery hours? It's great for them to learn social skills & meet other children while you catch up etc

How old is the toddler? From an early age mine were given a few baby wipes and used to help clean the doors!! Ime you need to be able to potter about with dc and expect them to be fine!!

Stick a kids film on and google The Organised Mum Method! It's a blog/Facebook/instagram page FULL of great cleaning hacks, tips and tricks

This keeps my house on track. I move some of the days around a little (always change beds on the weekend for example) and clean the bathroom more than she suggests. But it's a really great starting point.

@WooYa beat me to it :)

Give the kids some "cleaning supplies" damp sponge, bubbles clean feather duster etc while you declutter a bit.
Hoover after dinner each night (no point doing it during the day with kids) then if you can manage to sacrifice an hour's sleep pick 2 small tasks to do each night and give yourself 30 mins per task and prep yourself a nice treat to have when you're finished...for motivation of course Grin

If you have hard floors open all doors blitz through all at once with mop before you go to sleep.

@MrsPreston11 I'm at bit obsessed BlushGrin

Thank you for the suggestions! I will look into the organised mum method but right now I need to sort EVERYTHING between today and tomorrow and I think TOM does bit by bit?

Toddler gets free hours from September so not yet, he's fine with TV and snacks though. Baby too young to entertain himself unfortunately. Hates bouncers or anything that restrains him from crawling all over the place Grin
