To be slightly annoyed at this...

Neighbours children are lovely, they get on well with ours etc. Their dad built them a platform recently which enables them to stand and look over our 6ft fence. Now this doesn't bother me but does my partner due to wanting and needing privacy. I've spoken to next door about privacy concerns and they apologised and put two blocks up but the kids just move em. How do I tell them nicely to stop looking over?

ScreamingValenta · 18/07/2018 18:24

What was the intended purpose of the platform?

Butterflykissess · 18/07/2018 18:25

oh that would annoy me!

Toughtips · 18/07/2018 18:28

Not sure on intended purpose of platform other than to enable them to talk to our children over the fence. We've had them over to play which I'm completely happy to do but it gets a bit much when they're up. I did politely tell them that we were having tea now see you later cos we were trying to eat tea outside lol. Such a silly problem to have but not sure how to approach. The mums lovely and we get on so I do message her odd time but I don't want to have to keep messaging evethtime they're up.

Do you think they would get the point if you built a similar platform for your children to look into their garden?

MalloryLaurel · 18/07/2018 18:45

Screaming that's a good idea!

Toughtips · 18/07/2018 18:59

I don't know if they'd care to be honest and I know for a fact that our kids would love that. Lol

All you can really do is reiterate your privacy concerns. You might also mention that there's a security issue - it would be easier for an intruder to climb over your fence with a handy platform to stand on.

Check the planning regs, some high structures in gardens have had to be removed because they invaded neighbours' privacy.
