Recently eating meal outside a restaurant. Family arrived to eat outside. One parent went to nearby fast food chain and bought food for one child and brought it back to eat at this restaurant. Waitress advised politely that it was not allowed and parent needed to order drinks and food. The parent had not thought to ask if it was on to bring food from another restaurant first. The family left. Why didn't they all eat in the fast food place ? Or some eat at one restaurant and some at the other restaurant. Im assuming no food allergies. This just seemed very rude

It seems usual for some parents who think they shouldn't need to buy a meal for their kids, so bring their own. It's just rude

It's the same people who refuses to buy food from a soft play and insist on eating their own crisps because they are cheaper. Idiots.

It is very rude if other members of the family aren't giving the restaurant their custom.

Was the rest of the family eating at the restaurant? How old was the child? Did they serve the type of food that the parent bought at the fast food chain at the restaurant?

When my two were toddlers DH and I often went to a local Vietnamese place for dinner and bought chicken nuggets from McDonalds across the street for DD & DS. They didn't mind, as they didn't serve chicken nuggets and my kids weren't massive fans of Vietnamese at 2.

I often grab some snacks for my son to eat if I'm meeting friends for coffee or food, I've never brought a whole meal along (i.e. Happy meal) but I'm not paying out £££ for my son to have food he won't eat. It's not right but it's what I do.

The children were about 8 and 10. The restaurant had a large menu that included menu for children, burgers, chips etc I think the parent should have asked first if it was OK to eat other food, rather than assume that it was ok

I do wish that restaurants and cafes could offer small adult portions for children, instead of the rubbish "child food" usually on offer. It doesn't stop parents to bring their own crap anyway, so I guess they go for the most popular choices.
