Day 3 of low carb and I can't switch off it's like I've had a lot of caffeine before bed.Is this normal?

Drinking more water should help. Two litres a day is ideal. And yes, it's a highly effective load of crap when it comes to losing weight, I lost 20 kilo on a low card diet and never felt better. To make it work really well, you also need to keep your fat intake high.

I cannot do low carb as it makes me feel like I have had 5 red bulls and an espresso chaser. I don't sleep properly and burn myself out. Also the higher fat that you inevitably eat doesn't agree with me. I have found that just standard sensible eating with lower fat lower sugar but with a 14 hours gap from eating/fast overnight has made me lose and now control my weight. There's nothing you can't eat then.

Seconding the water recommendation. Drink plenty and it will help keep things flowing. Failing that; coffee keeps being recommended on the constipation thread as a laxitave, which is allowed on a low carb diet... herbal teas could help too; particularly senna containing ones and peppermint helps with gas/bloating. HTH.
